Dear All: to the glory of God, my Alpha and Omega, I received the coveted Letter of Approval (LOA) i.e. Manitoba PNP Nomination Letter today (19/11/2012).

The storm (waiting) is over and wish everyone God's speed on their application.

Thanks for this information.I recently got to know that public transportation is very poor in Canada and I have been advised to get a car as soon as possible after landing.That has reawaken my interest in the D/licence stuff.Initially, I thought i may not drive so soon. Please who knows how much I can get a small car in Canada? Landed seniors and all experienced forum members pls respond. Regards

I don't know about the transportation system in the city where you're going, but in the city where i stay (mississauga) the transport system is quite efficient. To get an idea of what you will pay for a small car, visit www.kijiji..ca. Buying the car is not the issue. The issue is are you ready to contend with the cost of insurance which can be as high as $400 monthly? Not to mention the cost of gas and maintenance. As far as you can factor that into your budget then you can go for a car.

do you have a format for the letter of authentication from FRSC . I want to 'approach ' FRSC with a sample in Lagos . i understand you can use the letter to get a lower insurance premium as well . I am needing it for that really ... i will appreciate if any one can get it across or PM me ..

As far as I know, your letter from FRSC cannot reduce your insurance premium. Do not be decieved. (I stand to be corrected by anyone who has had insurance premium reduced with this letter). Like pa right and Tokzee have rightly said, you don't need any such letter from FRSC. It is of no use here. Don't waste your time and money. All you need to do is send your licence to the Nigerian high commission in Ottawa here for authentication when you arrive and it will be accepted by the Ministry of transportation. Why una like wahala like this? Its just $20 bucks which a cheaper option!

On the issue of reducing premium, what I may suggest is that once you get to Canada you attend a MTO-approved Beginner Driver Education Course at an approved driving school. You can find one here:

From my personal experience the course reduced my insurance to $298 monthly which is not bad for a new comer.
