Plus 5 return tickets LOS-YYC for my five aside team............. please remember to PM me for the details of the passengers, for daring to keep the news for 24hours.

Congratulations. Enough celebration and Jubilation.

Cheers

Emo! Emo! you do well :D ;D

the truth of the matter is that we dont need to wait till.when we get to canada before we evaluate our credentials.tinuadebola has already sent her own degree and master degree for evaluation.we too can do same because it will reduce the waiting hours in canada and allowing one to focus on other thing.
we can send our credentials to wes canada for evaluation.

Hello all,

Congrats to everyone who has got a mail from AVO recently. All other awaiting mails, God shall make AVO contact you soonest.

To the glory of God, I and my family landed safely in Calgary on Sunday (3:00PM local time). The journey was so long but fun. Courtesy of IOM, we got a good ticket via Lufthansa from Lagos to Frankfurt and connect to Air Canada from Frankfurt to Calgary.

Landing in Calgary was a wonderful experience. The weather was fine on Sunday and I was opportuned to have three (3) families waiting for my arrival at the airport. They are all wonderful people as they waited over two (2) hours for us to finish our screening with the boarder agency and co.

The experience at the custom post was strange. The guy took time to search all our bags. He siezed our dry ponmo (so painful), ginger, maggi cubes - chicken flavor. He said they are not allowed in Canada. He also asked how much I brought and collected from me to confirm. I was amazed but i thank God thank that things were in order.

The lesson learned is that at most times, it is a good idea to ensure all necessary requirements are met. I cannot just imagine what the guy would have done if my POF was not in order. He was in to confirm the rate for that day and came out with the conversion to CAD - I still had a little above my minimum POF.

After all the screenings, the guy stretched his hand for a handshake and he said "Welcome to Canada". If I have thought of the packs of ponmo he siezed, I wouldnt have responded, but all the same, the excited was all over me. We then proceeded to reception where our family and friends were waiting to receive us. I was very excited, 3 families came with 4 cars to pick just 3 of us, it is God's glory and favor. Imagine 7 people coming to receive you to a new land!

Well, so far we have been able to get our SIN, apply for our Health Insurance and open bank accounts. We have done some shopping as well and we are still going to do more because it's snowing already. I will like to stop here for now but I promise to give you gist of other events later.

I like to thank my good friend of twenty (20) years now - Gent2 who is my host, Ma Ig, Bade who stayed with us at the airport before we went for boarding and all other forum members who encouraged us in a way or the other. By the special grace of God, everyone expecting good news from AVO will get it soon (Amen).

NB: This is a request to all my forum friends, kindly forward your numbers to this email - bidemiolaoye @ gmail.com (I dropped my phone on the plane and 'am yet to get it)

Bye for now.

Congrats

@ Shaddy,
Agreed! i just made a general statement any ways.evaluation is quite essential before taking off.at least that will save the waiting time couple with the expenses over that period;and it will facilitate ones earlier settlement in terms of job search.

For all, another thing about Evaluation is to check up in ones intending Province. WES do not apply or rather is not acceptable in all the Provinces.i think is only accepted in Ontario and few other Provinces. i have done mine with WES but my intending province(ALBERTA) do not accept WES but IQAS.so i have to go for IQAS

In fact see the few provinces and accepted Evaluators below:

1. ALBERTA-International Qualifications Assessment Service(IQAS)

2. BRITISH COLUMBIA-International Credential Evaluation Service(ICES)

3. MANITOBA-Academic Credentials Assessment Service(ACAS)

4. ONTARIO-A.Comparative Education Service(CES),UNI TORONTO
B. International Credential Assessment Service(ICAS)
C. World educational Services(WES)

5. QUEBEC-MICC

6. SASKATCHEWAN-IQAS

7. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES-IQAS

8. YUKON-IQAS

Please check for NEW BRUNSWICK,NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR,NOVA SCOTIA,PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND,OR NUNAVUT as applies to u.

Hi guys.....nice to finally get a forum of Nigerians migrating to ca.Pls how long does it take from MR to PR?DH and I did our medicals mid July and we are yet to receive any news.

Also for those that have landed, would like to know how fast it took you to land a job, what documents did you get in Nija that helped you settle in faster?

Also i have applied to various job websites but no luck yet though some have asked that i contact them when i land.Did you get employment in Nija first? Also did you have to evaluate your certificates from Nija before landing?is this really necessary?what is the rental charge for a 2 bed for instance in alberta/GTA?

Is health care really free?i also learn that you have to wait 3months to get a Doctor what happens in case of emergencies during this period?would need some insights plssss.

Thanks.

Also pls how can i track my application on the e-cas website.I tried with my immigration nos but i got stuck.

IQAS ALBERTA has an affiliation with WES, if WES has concluded evaluation, just ask them to forward your report to IQAS or whatever province you intend settling and your credentials will be recognised immediately.
