Hey guys i am new here and i am also a nigerian . I have some questions , i am hoping some of you guys here respond positively . i am a prospective immigrant hoping to come into canada as a foreign worker , i looked up jobbank and workingincanada.gc.ca and i found some basic jobs that caught my attention , so i decided to contact jobbank at jobbank@workingincanada.gc.ca and i got this response

"Dear client,

Thank you for your enquiry.

To respond to your question, yes it could be possible for you to find a job while still being in your country. To do so, we strongly recommend you to visit your embassy. Most of the time, when an employer wants to hire a foreign worker, he would get in contact with the embassy of that specific country. Therefore, your embassy could be able to put you in contact with a possible employer or simply give you information on job opportunities in Canada. You can also visit our website and apply to job posting that interest you. Unfortunately some employer might reject your application because they are mostly looking for Canadian workers. A good tip for you would be to find job posting that interest you and instead of sending them your resume, to just send them an email that explains your situation. If they're interested , they will definitely write back and let you know the stages to be followed.

We hope this information was beneficial to you and we wish you good luck in your job search "

then i went ahead to contact ontario.ca(just for more info) and they responded positively also

"Thank you for your inquiry. You will have to do a job search that
matches your qualifications and interest. The federal government's
specific job posting will list a job number; type of employment
(part-time/full-time); salary; location; qualification and they will
have an e-mail address. This is where you can either send them your
resume or e-mail them to tell them of your situation.

The job bank also has valuable information with respect to resume
writing, job search tips, job-matching etc.

I hope this has been of some assistance to you.

barsindoo... quick response .. anyway so whats your take on this. Better to get a company willing to employ for your skill sets then they will take it upon themselves to apply for the necessary permits or assist you in applying for it. Word of caution though, it might be difficult to obtain a job online at this time considering the global job market. Every government is trying to ensure that people within their borders are adequately employed hence it might not be that easy obtaining work permits. My two cents bro!

Having said that all things are possible to them that belief. It is well

Seems, most pple in d ause if not all love the Federal route. But i think d Quebec route might favor some pple in ause. I applied for my Quebec selection certificate june 2nd 2010 and i got my CSQ sep 2010. it was even stated in d letter dat my federal application to Accra will b given prioroty treatment. most dose who study Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Statistics, Actuarial science, etc can benefit greatly. If not for postal delay as indicated by d date on my selection certificate i would av gotten it in 1month.

I will like to share my experience and may be it will be of help to you.
I submitted my initially application to CIO on 31st August with a GT bank draft.
On the 17th Nov a got the full application send back with a letter dated 16th Oct stating that I used the wrong payment format.
I called my friend in the uk and he send me a canadian bank draft and I re-send the application on and received at CIO on 1-Dec.
Be wise and learn from the elders.

Getting job from outside Canada is possible. however like one of the members of this forum rightly mentioned. It's Canadians first, then the rest. However there are some jobs where the shortage is acute. If you falls in that category, then you can press on.

All the best.

please who knows anything about Langley?got a place there b4 landing.is it safe and close to downtown Vancouver?
High Chief,
How did you get the place? Did you do due diligence prior to that? It may be a popular place in BC but there are other bigger cities, my friend over there has been MIA so can't give you any reasonable feedback. You may be closer to the US than downtown Vancouver..just check the map.

Whatever you do, make sure it's a safe neighborhood with some support systems around.

Best of luck..
