If your police clearance is expired, then naturally, I believe you should get a renewal. ALL old passports will also cease to be valid from 31ST DECEMBER 2010; it doesn't matter that your passport expires in 2012. So i believe you should also make urgent effort to renew your passport. All the best!

Good morning all,

Can anyone advise me on how to go about the Police clearance. If I am in another country at the moment (i.e not in Nigeria) and they do ask for the certificate, do I have to go back to Nigeria to get it in person? or is there another ''option''. The same goes for the medicals

Should you have mentioned on your application forms that you live in another country and more than six months, you got to have two police reports, one from Nigeria and one from which ever country you are living. Yes, You have to come back to Nigeria and get one at alagbon, lagos You can do your medical anywhere in the world provided it is CIC medical designated center. Better still, you can come back to Nigeria to do your medical

I dont think you have to come back to Nigeria to get PCC, you can ask a friend to pick up the blank form from alagbon then send it to you for finger prints once it is done, you send it back with all the relevant info, the friend takes it to alagbon then they will arrange the PCC. I did that with my husband who is in the country but couldnt make it to lagos, and he got his PCC. But you know the naija way now......... a little something will be required! (it is always better to finger print more than one form incase it is not done properly)

Like it was said, you don't have to come to Nigeria to do Police report. If you reside in the US, you can get the FBI fingerprint card and do you fingerprint. Send the fingerprint to a relative in Nigeria who will take it to Alagbon on your behalf with a passport photograph and a copy of your Nigerian passport. They will do it for you. I have done this on several occasion

Hi Shaddy,

I would strongly recommend you make another passport without further delay

Hi Ralfee and Igbehinadara,

Thank you for your reply. I will go do as you have said, but i am worried about the passport cos the information i filled in my application to cic was for the old passport. Does it matter in future when the visa office will ask for passport.
I will appreciate more response to my situation, thank you all.

Go on shaddy.
I will appreciate more response to my situation, thank you all.

Barsindoo,

Ok, thank you i do appreciate your response.

The instruction about PC is very clear. if you had submitted your app. you can do your police cert. now
if you are pre-June 26, 2010.

Hello All,

I had to send my docunts to Accra (last week) with a photocopy of my transcript (instead of original in school's envelope) so as to beat the submission deadline because i couldn't get it from the school. Just received the transcript from school and wondering best way to handle the situation. Should I forward the said transcript to them or wait till they ask for additional documents? Your advise will be much appreciated.

Fair enough but I hope you included a note explaining your action in your submission Just received the transcript from school and wondering best way to handle the situation. Should I forward the said transcript to them or wait till they ask for additional documents? As far as I know, you are not normally allowed to submit additional documents until you have been issued a NEW file number (AOR). So unless others have a different opinion, I'll suggest you just wait till they ask for the original cos one thing is sure - they will ask! Only downside is; that normally pushes back your application for at least another 60 days :( Irrespective of statistics though, God's favour will stand you out!Your advise will be much appreciated.

Hi all,

Regarding the current pace of activities in Accra, I just got this GENERAL information from one of the other groups and I think it makes some sense so I am sharing it here for us all as an encouragement:

"The processing of federal class is taking longer not due to the Student Visa applications. As processing of Student Visa's is done by different unit not economic unit. The reasons of delay is re-posting of staff around the world in month of August and September and the Immigration year end in September. Minister will present his report to Parliament in this session and a new targets for Visa will be issued."

Based on this, it seems activities should generally pick up in Accra shortly.
