Hello. I became a permanent resident and my landing date was in Nov 2023. However, i only stayed for 5 days here to complete my landing procedures and then went back to my country. I then came here for good in Jan 2024 with my possessions and then settled here permanently. I am confused if i need to file for 2023 as well?

I got replies from friends who said if i do so, it will make me eligible to receive certain rebates like the carbon and GST ones.

But you are filing for 2024, and you were not a tax resident in 2023.
