Smoothie, as a PR you guys can take any job you wish so you're not tied to anything. I assume you are a CA citizen, if you're a PR you will have to be in CA to apply, short vacations are ok. As you have been in JA for a couple years you guys will have to reassure cic that you will be coming to CA. An offer letter from your future employer will help as well as letter from family/friends that you have a place to stay while you get settled. On your sponsorship they request an Option C which shows the taxes you paid in CA, you should send a note that you have been working overseas and include any tax receipts you have from JA. The good thing is your choosing to live in JA to be with your hubby goes a long way in showing your relationship is genuine.

Smoothies...amen to your take on Jamaican men...I have been around soley Jamaican men and I have seen it all....You have to know within yourself who is genuine versus who is looking for papers....
i know if I could afford it I could move to JA to be with hubby and live in Jamaica....he does not really care to live in Canada but because we both know for more than one reason that Canada is the place for us to be right now we have decide to reside here but in the future we gobe back to JA......when all the fruits RIPE!!!!!

Oh by the way I just spoke back to my MP's office and I told them that my hubby's AOR stated that the Application process should take about 6 mths and we are now past our 6th month and no further communication since....So they are going to send a letter to the Embassy next week...I am happy about that but praying that those IO's dont be vendictive and work slower on my file.....lol....I am so skeptical about KGN.....YIKEs

ladyposh : I think that is true for Jamaican's and all people and relationships in general. Sometimes people's intentions are not pure and we all have to watchful of that. I think that is AMAZING news and if i had an AOR letter I would calling my MP RIGHT NOW!!! Strike while the iron is hot!! I think it will have the opposite reaction and just give them a little push in the right direction!! Great news!

ladyposh : I am in the Sandalwood /Mclaughlin area but I work in Mississauga. Is your work hiring cause gas prices are MAD!! I have heard Whitby has grown a lot and lots of people live there and commute but i've never been that way. I am new to Ontario.. only in the last 2 years. I was in Alberta before this.
My dad is Jamaican and my mom is Canadian. I lived in Canada most of my life but moved to Jamaica in my early 20's for a few years.

I will PM you about work.....how was it living in JA? and what made you decide to move there?

ladyposh: I started going to Jamaica with my mom on vacations when i was about 16 and i was hooked. After living in Alberta for my life up until then, i was ready to have some color in my life! lol. My dad retired and moved back when i was about 18 (mom and dad were divorced from a young age) so after a few yearly trips I decided that Jamaica was where I wanted to live. I moved there around 19 staying at first with my dad in Westmoreland and then getting a job in Mo Bay. I had left my mom behind in Alberta (only child for her ) and after a couple years she needed me to come home.
I found life there amazing. Jamaica is one of the most spiritual and beautiful places on Earth and I learned so much about my backround and culture. If it were not for my mom i would not have come back though there were aspects i found very hard. not being able to be nice to ANY man or they will think they can get IT. LOL. Having to be constantly on guard for people trying to rip you off. Not being able to trust that peoples intentions are good. It hardened me a but made me who i am and wouldn't change it for the world. Also if i hadn't come home, i wouldn't be here now!! Me and hubby plan to one day call JA home again which i very much look forward too!

Wow lilmaya....nice story....I came to Toronto at the age of 6 and did not go back until I was 16 and my Father was living in JA....once I went back that was it for me.....talk about culture shock.....from then I have been hooked to JA and the jamaican men....lol. I absolutely love JA especially because my Dad was an Inspector or Police so life there was good for him and he lived a decent life so I did not feel like I was missing anything from here. I would love to move there for a while....just need to make the dineiro first $$$$$!!!

What made you move to Toronto? Do u have family here?

ladyposh : Once u get that jamaica air all that jamaica sometin inna yu.... it is like a drug. I often think i wish i had travelled more to other places before i went to ja because now when i have the money to travel .. it's straight a yard! I did banish it for a bit though after separating from my ex promising i'd never be with another Jamaican man. (Delusional....LMAO.. can't stay away from them) Like yourself my dad being there and knowing if things went wrong I had somewhere to stay made it easier for sure.
Going back to Alberta was DEVASTATING after living in Jamaica. Although my ex was with me i was always very unhappy there and always searching for where i felt like home was. When i separated from my ex, he created a lot of "issues" that made me even more uncomfortable and i wanted out! I came here for Caribana in 2007 and a friend and I decided we would move here... fresh start... clean slate... not knowing a soul. My friend got pregnant.. couldn't move and I thought neither could I. I felt myself being pulled here although i didn't know if i could do it on my own with a child. All the pieces to get here just started slapping me in the face and I just did it. People thought i was insane...best thing that has ever happened to me!

Now my husband has family here who have taken us under their wing so now we have a support system here. My mom is still in Alberta with intentions of some day moving here.

good for you Lilmaya....I like that you did not make anything hold you back...you just did your thing and now hopefully you feel right at home. Do you miss Alberta at all?
