NEW TEER NOC FOR 2171

I had come to Canada on a closed work permit in NOC Code 2171.
I have checked new TEER NOC against 2171 in the Canada.ca site and it shows 21222 along with several split offs NOCs like 21211, 21221, etc.

My job duties matches with 21222, but at the same time some of my job duties also matches with the NOC in split offs (like 21211).

I have completed one year and now creating my Express Entry profile.

Questions-
1? Can I pick the NOC showing in split offs like 21211? Not 21222.
Because in ONIP tech, 21211 is picked more often and 21222 is not picked up.

2) My work area is little wide in the same IT domain, and if needed my employer will support by giving the letter that I worked on some more duties in addition to the one in original NOC 2171 (one declared for my work permit), so that choosing the split off NOC like 21211 is justified. Now my question is whether the immigration officer will find the employer letter sufficient to prove the additional job duties if someone working on closed work permit?

Responses/suggestions/guidances will be much appreciated.

Your NOC needs to match your closed work permit NOC. If your job and NOC had changed then your employer should have applied for a new LMIA. NOC 2171 is now NOC 21222. NOC 21211 was 2172. So not sure what you mean about split offs. The NOCs have just changed numbers.

Really appreciate your quick response and guidance! I checked on the website https://www.statcan.gc.ca and new NOCs against 2171 shows as below :
"2171 continues as 21222 and part split-off to emerging items 21211, 21220, 21221 and 21233"

Question- If my employer agrees to give a letter that I fulfilled duties of 21222 (old 2171) and additionally also did resposibilities of 21211 , can I apply in Express Entry as 21211?

You are using the wrong site. You use the NOC database.

National Occupational Classification - Canada.ca (esdc.gc.ca)

Are you counting the 50 points for LMIA? If so the NOC on your LMIA must match the NOC in your EE profile. You are in Canada on a LMIA, correct? If so, what is NOC is on your LMIA. If employer changes your NOC they should be applying for a new LMIA with the new NOC. So no a letter is not going to change the fact that your NOC must match the LMIA.

Thank you so very much for your quick, clear and convincing response! I highly appreciate! You are great.

Mine is LMIA exempt work permit.

Yes I want to claim 50 points for LMIA (exempt)

I am clear that I need to apply for Express Entry on same NOC in which my work permit was done. But since against old NOC 2171 it shows new NOC as 21222 and also split offs NOCs so I was wondering if I could pick other also because system itself was giving an option as I had sent earlier.

Since you seem to be very knowledgable I have couple of more questions:

1. If I apply in one of split offs NOC like 21211 (with few job duties matching with older noc 2171), my case will be rejected by officer if picked in ONIP tech? In that case I will have to resubmit all information in EE thorugh 21222?

2. If I do EE profile with noc 21222 (old noc 2171) , and parallely request for noc change. Is the NOC change process easy and fast? Do you know how much time it takes?

3. If I get new noc then can I apply for PR immediately after getting it or do I need to work for a year in that new noc?

Thank you in advance! God bless you.

Regards

I am on a closed WP and would be completing 1 year in April. Want to know if I can claim 50 points for LMIA.. and if yes, what are the options I need to select in the express entry portal..

Many Thanks !

Thank you for initiating this conversation. I find myself in a similar situation, as I have been waiting for nearly a year to select an NOC code for 21222 for OINP, but unfortunately, I haven't had any success thus far. Are there any alternative options we can explore?
