Hi polara69,
I read it buddy and I knew about it before you linked it here. 2 points here Why? intend to reside? what has this to do with getting the citizenship? Who in the world asks this? I asked you this 3-4 times you never give me one even dictatorship one?

the second point, they always start soft then jump harder! start with intent then end up with YOU MUST. I have no problem with that if it will apply to everyone born in Canada or 10th generation Canadian but we getting here segregation and getting into discrimination!!

If you take any politician words for granted, then I guess you are not living the reality of our world.

Okay, I am not going to argue with you.. the intent to reside clause is strange and unique. But in the end against the Canadian Charter of Right and Freedom and therefore not enforceable:

6. (1) Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada.

Any change of the Charter is not going to happen, not in your or my lifetime.

I believe, like many others, the "intent" was proposed to keep all these people on a short leash who only come here, get the passport and bugger off again, so called convenience.

I am looking forward to my Canadian passport.. I also agree with you on the politicians, but remaining a PR is no good either. Change can only come from exercising your right to vote.

the trick here is who falls under "every citizen" category.

There is a trick here.Do not miss it!

Are you saying that once you got your Canadian citizenship one is not a citizen of Canada?? Or what am I missing here?

if the CIC wants, they can make you stateless if they wish.Even if you were born in Canada. They have the power to do that but it would be harder.

there is always playing with words within the laws in Canada, always concealing a "secret weapon" they can hit their targets.

polara69,
please read my post before the one you quoted. I think I typed 2 posts one by mistake but please read it again in page 3. The one that's titled
Bill C-24, Strengthening
Canadian Citizenship Act

and written by NATIONAL IMMIGRATION LAW SECTION
CANADIAN BAR ASSOCIATION
April 2014

I see, but I cannot be stateless, I have already two passports..

we aren`t talking about "you" personally :) since we do not know you my friend. Here you aren`t a concern individually,we all are the concern as immigrants :)

If you have 2 passports, then you are easy target, you can be expelled and stripped of your citizenship way easier... please read the link I put before about the bill C-24. Please spend some time and read it ALL. IT'S AMAZING AND INTERESTING....

Thanks guys, I have read your posts...I might even understand your concerns.

But honestly, I am not the least worried about that bill change. It does not worry me at all. Your arguments are probably wasted on me, sorry.

I am having an excellent life here, with everything imaginable. No worries, no sorrows, no regrets.

buddhaB, NOT only CIC can strip you it says SINGLE OFFICER CAN STRIP YOUR CITIZENSHIP!!!

And why would they do this?? WHY??? Give me a good reason, why a normal, tax paying, law abiding, working person should be stripped of their Canadian citizenship?

Polara, if it's a law then they can do it. if it's a single officer then if he has a bad day and you passed by his face he might do it everything could happen... Enjoy your happy life buddy with your 3 passports and keep mocking Americans and 8th grade students ;D at least in USA the president himself can't strip your citizenship ;D
