But if you want to travel and go out then you have to apply for PRTD at a Canadian Embassy to come back.
But if you are working abroad, you may be asked to cancel your employment/residence visa and given them the passport to give you the PRTD to return to Canada.
INCORRECT STATEMENT.. DONT BELIEVE.. NO NEED TO CANCEL VISA TO GET PRTD

Urgent help needed, guys. Please help.

I'm landing on Tuesday in Toronto but will be back on Saturday because of my work commitment.

I would like to know whether it will affect my PR card application. When do we apply for this? At the airport? Is it really necessary to be present in Canada physically during the application process?

Also I would like to open a bank account and apply for SIN. Please advice.

Hello, you can do the landing and leave without problem. The officer attending you will do the application for your PR card but you will need to give him a Canadian address to send it when is ready. But you will be required to show your PR card when you try to board a flight to travel back to Canada. (Starting March 15 this will be mandatory). So.. someone should send it to you once received or something like that.

There is another option. You can also ask for travel documents to the Canadian visa office or embassy in the country you are. You should be able to travel with that, too.

SIN number shouldn't be a problem to get right away. I heard some people who had some problems because the officer hadn't updated their PR status in the system yet, but this shouldn't happen very often. If you get your SIN card, then a bank account should be easy to get too. (I think they will require SIN card maybe, but not sure).

Good luck!

Dear ibdz

Did you get any communication regarding your card

Did you recived any mail from them .

Did you call them

Once you get the card please let me know

Also did you try to call them !

No, I prefer waiting than calling from outside. Probably would be for nothing.

Its only 50 days now... The last average is 55-60 until received in mail box.

If its not there next week I will start getting :( a lot more worried

4.5 months have passed and still I haven't received my PR card....

I try not to be affected by it,but everytime I pass by the mailbox, I hoping to see it...

I feel I have been cheated by CIC..it so unfair to learn that there are somenwho landed just last month and they have their cards already

I have been calling CIC recently and I was told that they require new photos. I haven't yet received the paper mail request from them but the agent sent me the email that refers to the photo spec and IMM 5455 form.

The question to those who received the request in mail:
Were you required to send anything else apart from the photos and 5455 from?

Also 5455 form contains Client ID field with the note "For official use only". There is no other field for client or file ID in the form.
Anybody filled in that field? Otherwise how CIC would identify that the photos correspond to my application.

Thanks.

Looks like since one week ago most people calling CIC get a new photos request... I dont think I will call ::)

Reached Toronto on Dec-15 and came back to India. Waiting for PR card till now. Called to customer care and was told that i need to send new photos with new photo specification and he emailed the photo specs like:
1. 50*70 mm with 31 to 36 mm size from head of crown to chin size photo;
2. put the address of photo studio where the photo was taken with date printed; Also, applicant name & date of birth.

My question to seniors is:

1. Can I send the photos from India directly to the address provided in my email request?
2. What will be the consequences if i put the photo studio address taken from India?
3. Should I fedex my photos to my friend at toronto and he will inturn mail to CIC office?
4. Or should I send the soft-copy of my photo, he can take the print at toronto and get the studio seal and mail to cic office?

Your suggestions are highly appreciable !!

Thanks You
