Few minutes to submit an application for permanent residency? That's not how applications work, there are forms you need to fill and submit. There are many without all the documents and with language test options that'll just be a few extra people in the next few days/weeks.. Experts are saying this will close within the month, there was a video posted above and moving2canada experts predict the same. Plus, there will almost certainly be a condition saying you can't apply if you have already applied through CEC.

Many people have already filled generic forms and applications from other streams in case those are requested, if the portal is like Express Entry that will have to be done manually and not through a printable form. I really hope they release more details soon, a lot of people are looking to apply and they're hardly giving any clarification.

This one requires you to have all proof of eligibility at the time of application. I also feel people are overestimating the eligible number of people. Will this fill up in a few days? probably, but will it fill up on the same day? unlikely.. 90,000 people isn't the 1,500 from OINP.. CEC applicants are getting approvals real fast these days, so the policy is not guaranteed to be faster (if not slower)

We're talking about 40k spots for international students, when the new policy for PGWP extensions was announced IRCC mentioned there were over 50k students eligible for the extension alone, (not counting people with valid PGWPs beyond July).

True. My wife has PGWP valid until 2023. There are many of them.

Do you think we should just... forget about this and apply for CEC when she becomes eligible? We just worry about her age; we lose points on that. But we think maybe she would be nominated by the province, because she works here and has a PhD from a province's university.

Yes, but how many are employed? how many have their IELTS ready? how many already applied for CEC thanks to the extension? I'm not saying 40,000 is enough but it's a significant amount.. that won't fill up on the day. ~30,000 were eligible for CEC on PGWPs in 2020.. all I'm saying is the numbers of the eligible population (guessing somewhere between 30-100k) doesn't make the 40,000 unrealistic. if the spots were 5000... or worse like OINP, then yeah it'll fill up in hours.

I just don't want people to not do their tests or get their documents already assuming that this will close right away and they have no chance. This hasn't happened before.. it's tens of thousands of spots.

PhD streams usually stay open. If you're in Ontario, OINP is moving to an expression of interest style where you get into a pool and get points (so it's not a rat race of 1500 spots gone in 25 minutes). That starting in the coming weeks.

Exactly, I don't think it will fill up on the first day.
Unless people with approvals from PNP, AOR from CEC etc think to apply for this stream. My friends who have PNP nominations were even thinking to do that lol . Well I guess it's upto them.

I really hope it specifies that those with pending applications shouldn't apply.. it won't be faster whatsoever and they'd just be taking a spot..

Do y’all think ielts will add more test dates like celpip has done?

I'm not sure because IELTS has dates every day and I remember my center could have only 10 for the day cause of covid and we had our speaking staggered throughout and the L, R, W was from 2-5 pm (I think CELPIP is more staggered? not sure) so for them to add more dates, I'd assume its an issue of space and employees..

Hey guys anyone here preparing for the TEF ou TCF specifically for this new pathway stream of french speaking international students?
