Hi Skye,

This is weird. I'm actually unsure how you can work around that. I don't think VFS will take that long. So far the average I've seen is 2 and a half weeks from submission of passport to VOH. Based on my prior conversations with some consultants and embassy employees you have to receive your visa from your originating country and fly in after as there is also an immigration process you need to undergo upon arrival. It was originally me and my wife's plan to fly in together and wait for the application to be completed while she's here in Canada with e but found it impractical as since there is no accurate timetable she will have to fly in and out and not have a job.

Hi CC79,

Thanks again for your reply. I got your point there, I think I should really fly back to Philippines once I received an email request for my passport, I think the VOH will give me enough time to submit my passport if I will inform them of my whereabouts.

Do you know where I can find the list/s of stuff that VOH requires you to undergo before leaving Philippines once you have your PR? I read some posts that some went to a seminar or something.

Thank you so much :-)

That may really be the best strategy. VOH btw is Visa on Hand. I think you mean CEM (Canadian Embassy Manila) :)

Standard passport request is 30 days to comply so once you get your PPR you have that much time to come back to manila and submit the passport and other documents they may request.

If I'm not mistaken after you receive your PPR you will need to fill up a form that they will send to you via email and submit a set of picture that will be used on your COPR and PR card. Nothing that will require you a lot of time to prepare mostly things you can complete in a day or two. After you get your Visa you'll have to register here

for your pre departure seminar. You will not be allowed to leave the country without this. Before I left I also went to a seminar done by IOM in Citibank Tower in Makati. I found it more informative and taylored more for the new standards of living in Canada done by expats. Not a prerequisite but I highly recommend attending.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Hello forum mates :D

Can anyone tell me their experiences about hiring a consultant to help them for the application?

Anyone here who had a joint bank account here in the Philippines with the sponsor? Is it just ATM or with passbook?

Because we applying common law this time.. Thanks :)

Hi, we did applied for Joint Bank Account "OR account". Depende sa option na pipiliin nio, what we applied is account with both ATM and Passport. I think most of the banks in Phi have this option. But just for your reference, we applied thru BDO. Thanks.
