Good day everyone. Im just new here, my girlfriend and I are planning to get married this July. I have some concerns prior to completing our application. I am planning to send the application this September.
1. Her passport will expire on May 2016, ano po ang mas magandang gawin, i renew na yung passport before application or isend na yung application and then update the CIC regarding passport renewal?
2. If we are going to renew her passport, the earliest appointment we could get is Aug 2016 pa. Ang concern ko ay: pag kinasal kami ng july, (months ang hihintayin for nso marriage cert which is requirement to change name & status) pag nirenew namin yung passport nya, which is august, single and maiden name nya pa din yung nakalagay sa passport nya dahil wala pa kaming copy ng nso marriage certificate. May kaso po ba yung maiden name at status sa passport, kasi baka makita ng CIC na we got married on july but nung nagrenew ng passport ay di binago yung surname at status nya?
I am staying in the Philiipines for just one month so we aim to finish everything on that timespan. Then as soon as I get back here in Canada isesend ko na yung application namin. God bless us all sa ating application.
I just got married so baka makatulong ang mga experience ko for your case.
1.
Renew the passport now. Like what you said, August 2016 na ang earliest schedule na nakuha nyo.
2.
I applied for my husband's sponsorship using my maiden name.
Additional tips:
1. If you're willing, you can renew NOW her passport without appointment. Yun nga lang, my husband went all the way to DFA Legazpi. Umalis husband ko around 9pm in Manila, dumating sya Legazpi early morning, then umuwi ng 6pm same day. Ang passport pwedeng ipa-LBC pagtapos na so you don't have to go back there.
2. Just continue checking and refreshing the DFA appointment site. I experience na may nagiging available na mas earlier sched.
3. FOR NSO Marriage certificate, hindi kailangan maghintay ng months. How? Yung sa amin narelease in two weeks.
4. Kung gusto nyo makapag-apply ng sponsorship ASAP (after your wedding),
use her maiden name.
Goodluck!
