Yes you can get up to 2500 hours i think.

After you receive your CSQ you can start the course.

Im not sure it depends when she moved to quebec, I think that anyone with a CSQ – Québec selection certificate is able to access the courses.

If I'm doing the outland process (but Im already here), and I get my CSQ, can I start doing it as well?
Or is it just for inland people?

It's for anyone with a CSQ. There are many people who are applying outland enrolled in the course, not just inland applicants.

If you are in QC, you can attend in-person classes that are sponsored by the government. Or you can just do the online classes and have video call classes with people from all over.

I'm not sure where the information came from that you can take MICC's French language course after receiving CSQ, but in my experience, that is not true. I have my CSQ. I've applied to the full-time French program for immigrants twice now, and I've been contacted by a representative from the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications. He said my immigration status did not make me eligible for the course at this time, but that once I receive AIP (approval in principle, the end of stage 1), I can send him proof and I will be admissible to the course at that time.

Information on the course in question can be found here: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/french-language/learning-quebec/full-time/index.html.

Again, I can only speak from my experience, and I know that it's hard to get good, consistent information on this issue. I've made several calls over the past few months and received different information from each of the representatives with whom I've spoken. I've been told that I have to be a permanent resident to take courses, and I've been told what I detailed above about needing only to reach AIP to take courses. Hoping the AIP bit is the truth, as I *should* be reaching that point sometime in the near future. (*FINGERS CROSSED!*)

Hi everyone!

I live in Quebec and sponsoring my husband from Turkey, so when I read about the french course I was curious so I went on the MICC site and learned about different OPTIONS that are available!

Here is the link and info.written : http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/french-language

Learning French online, Read about Admissions

1.Throughout the world
a) hold a CSQ - Québec selection certificate issued by MICC for at least two months.

2. In Québec
a) you live in Québec
b) your immigration status allows it.

To take the courses, you must also have access to a computer, with an Internet connection, ideally high-speed. LOL I hope so since you will be doing it online ;:)))))

Hope it helps clarify a bit!

Information on admission application for the full-time course: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/french-language/learning-quebec/full-time/admission.html. Again, I was told that, as a visitor, my status does not qualify me to enroll in the course. Once I receive AIP, I'm told I will be able to enroll.

FAQs: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/informations/questions-answers.html#french

As for whether taking other courses first disqualifies you from the intensive full-time courses, this is from the information provided about part-time courses: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/french-language/learning-quebec/part-time/admission-registration.html. Apparently, you are limited to 1800 hours of french instruction through these MICC courses in Quebec.

You are right QuebecOkie! When I called MICC to get more info and specific answers, here's what I got.

First, the online french course are not for beginners they are for more advanced people. Second, it is true that the maximum hours allowed is 1800 hours and accumulative so that means, if you decide to take french classes out of Québec online, so lets say 300 hours and once you are in Quebec you continue in a normal class, you will have 1500 hours left!

Did the MICC representative with whom you spoke speak english? I've had some trouble with that. I've called twice, and the two different reps were NOT bilingual and barely funtionally billingual, respectively. Then, I received a call after the second time I submitted my app. The gentleman who called was very friendly but didn't speak any english. Luckily, my bilingual husband was home at the time to help. I couldn't help but laugh...calling me about my application to try to LEARN french and not speaking any english? Ha!

Unfortunetly when you call in Quebec and especially provincial government here, most don't even speak english, how sad but I got so much use to it and especially because I myself work for MSSS hahah and I am the only one who speaks english and french...anyway, just to let you know that I spoke with a rep in french so I did not even bother to try to speak english and that's how I got that info.! If you need help in something specific just let me know, I will try to help ;)

Aww, thanks! I've picked up a bit of french here (I started out with about a 1 on a scale of 100, and I'd say I'm at a 9 now on the same scale, haha). I do alright in person at the bank and stores and stuff, where I can add gestures and an apologetic demeanor to my broken french, but the phone is still terrifying. I *did* manage to successfully call a restaurant and make reservations about a month ago! You'd think I'd achieved world peace, which the amount of celebrating I did over my accomplishment, haha.

Really appreciate the offer, but the husband is bilingual, so when I really need the help, I can prod him into giving it. He HATES to use the phone or deal with administrative stuff, but he does it when it's beyond my abilities. We should be here another 3 years, at least. I fully intend to be bilingual (at least conversationally) by the time we leave. We'll see.
