Re: New Express Entry ranking system will be applied in Nov 19th (detail inside!)

Previously, qualifying job offers supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment were worth 600 points under the CRS. As of November 19, there will be new ways of being awarded either 50 or 200 points without the need to obtain a LMIA (though points will continue to be awarded to individuals with a new or existing LMIA). The new regulations also allow the following individuals to be awarded points for a qualifying job offer:

Individuals with a work permit issued under an international agreement, such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Individuals with a work permit issued under the ‘significant benefits to Canada’ criteria, such as Intra-Company Transfers.

what does that mean?
(a) an arranged employment as defined in subsection 82(1) of the Regulations, if
(i) the offer is supported by a valid assessment — provided by the Department of Employment and Social Development at the request of the employer or an officer and on the same basis as an assessment provided for the issuance of a work permit — that the requirements set out in subsection 203(1) of the Regulations with respect to the offer have been met,
(ii) the foreign national holds a valid work permit, the offer of employment is made by an employer for whom the foreign national currently works and who is specified on the work permit, the work permit was issued based on a positive determination made by an officer under subsection 203(1) of the Regulations with respect to the foreign national’s employment with that employer in an occupation that is listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix and the assessment provided by the Department of Employment and Social Development on the basis of which the determination was made is not suspended or revoked, or
(iii) the foreign national holds a valid work permit issued under the circumstances described in paragraph 204(a) or (c) or section 205 of the Regulations, the offer is made by an employer who is specified on the work permit and the foreign national works for that employer and has accumulated at least one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work, over a continuous period of work for that employer;

That is not what the rule says,

It is i, ii or iii, which means that either i & ii or i & iii. There is no 50 or 200 points for LMIA-exempt job offer.

Re: New Express Entry ranking system will be applied in Nov 19th (detail inside!)

Hello,

Just created a username on this forum although I have been silently watching since the past year or so. This question is for Alexios07, although others please feel free to share your input.

I went to a Canadian university starting in Sep 2010 and graduated in June 2014. I started work at a NOC B level job in Feb 2015 and work there till date on a PGWP. As it stands I have 438 crs points. Celpip score:
Listening: 9
Reading:12
Writing:9
Speaking:12

My question is with the additional 30 points for international students it still seems that I will have a shortfall of 4 points as per the latest draw. Should I be worried or do you think the crs score will now decrease?

Kind Regards

Nobody know if the score will increase or decrease, it is all speculation at this point.

I think game is over for all the FSW with the points in the range 400 to 450. They are the one who are most impacted.

I was just quite hopeful that with the additional points for international students I would have enough to receive an ITA in the next round. My PGWP is still valid till Aug 2017 and I will have 2 years of work experience on Feb 2017 so all is not lost I suppose :)

Not sure if it will go up from 472 or not but I am sure it will take hell lot more ITA now to even go to 470. There are so many students around 450-460 range and all getting 15 or 30 points means number of people in pool around 470 480 has just gone higher now.

Yes, but a lot of people with LMIAs are gone now. (Most people with LMIAs had points between 250-350). That should bring the cutoff down.

I guess my options would be to: Wait for the next draw and then
1) retake CELPIP to get more points, the only worry I have with that is that theres always the chance of performing worse than I did before.
2) Wait till Feb 2017 to get two years of work experience (Hopefully stay employed till then)
3) Wait for Ontario PNP to re-open

LOL, that is not correct. The language means that i OR ii OR iii - any of the 3 conditions - are eligible for the LMIA-exempt version of the valid job offer bonus. This means that yes, ICT and NAFTA workers will be eligible along with those who hold the LMIA.

1 - If you do worse in your CELPIP you can still use the previous score as long as it has not expired.

Cheers ;)

OMG! if that is truly the case then I am honestly willing to register for the CELPIP asap and get full marks. I am fairly confident that they gave me less points in writing the first time round. Thanks for that suggestion friend, god bless.
