Hi Reet

Majority of the people in this forum are in the same situation as you are now.

Well for that matter even I dont have any one close enough to guide me. I am moving there with my family and like everybody I am also going to start a new life from ground zero. Infact, lets remember we are giving up whatever we have in our motherland and are out in search for greener pastures. So do not worry too much, be positive, and always think of good things. As we all know first six months will be an acid test for all new comers. The catch is not to get disheartened or depressed, if things do not go as planned. Being calm and composed is the key.

As far the livable places are concerned, every city/province has its own set of positives and challenges. Vancouver and Calgary are very expensive cities. I have spent hours on the web in researching about it. Mississauga is quite reasonable in terms of rentals, transportation, schools, and other stores. Infact, Mississagua is well connected to Toronto by both Bus and Trains. You may do your own research and share your thoughts in this forum. Lets hear from you soon about places to live :) :D

Hope this helps

Thanks

@reet - Yes the international license issued by Indian authority or authority of any other country is valid till 90 days only and post that the same in invalid.

Thamx canadian4 u..dat means we cant drive with our indian driving license????

Yes you can but just for 90 days only.. but ensure you understand the canadian traffic rule first because they are very strict with traffic violators.

Wish you happy & safe driving @ CANADA

thanx canadian4 u....bt i hv a confusion...if we can drive with indian driving license for 3 months den wat is the point getting international drivng license????

In case you find any kind of urgency of driving in initial days.. also it would be a great help to get a new license from canadian authority.. i suppose.

Intially people used to travel by public transport and observe the traffic rules followed in the country.

Hi Reet

As Candian4u pointed out, its wise to observe the traffic rules very close during the initial days. They are very strict when it comes to traffic offense. Spending time in observing the rules will be a good thing to do instead of thinking too much about the 3 month International Drivers Permit. Getting a Canadian Learners License is the right thing to do first and ensure that a Canadian License holder accompany's you while driving. In this way, you can slowly get used to the driving conditions.

God forbid, none of we newcomers should get into trouble when it comes driving. That's definitely an unpleasant situation to be in and also the last thing that we would want to face in our early days.

Thanks

Hi Kamal

There is no point in getting tensed, eventually it will make things worse for you and spouse. First, explore ways to prepare for the interviews. Write to other topics in this forum seeking opinion from the ones who have attended a personal interview. Also do your own research in various websites regarding personal interviews. Consolidate the information you gathered and you will be able to make your own judgement as to what to do and what not to. Stick to your basics and be relaxed. All will end well.

Thanks
Madhava
