One more quick question about PCC

After the age of 18 I have worked in following countries and CURRENTLY IN INDIA

1. AUG 2004 - DEC 2004 - 4 months in Canada
2. April 2006 - February 2008 - 22 Months in Singapore
3. February 2008 - February 2009 - 12 Months in USA
4. Currently in India

I came to know that I need to take PCC for countries where I have stayed more than 6 months

According to that I beleive I need to take PCC FROM SINGAPORE, USA AND INDIA.

Please let me know can I get the PCC for all the countried in India Police Office itself or I need to get PCC from corresponding countries.

Please let me know the procedure.

Hi,

1. After 18 yrs of age wherever u stayed u'll need a PCC of that country.

2. U'll have to obtain it from the concerned authorities of those countries ONLY.

3. CIC website details the procedure of obtaining those, in diff countries/circumstances.

Yes, needed for countries ONLY where u stayed consecutive 6 months or more.

You need PCC from all countries where you stayed for more than six months only.

For US you will need FBI clearance and state PCC may be needed if VISA officer asks for same. For more Information on PCC please see thelink

For India PCC, you can get it from Passport office or SSP office
For PCC from passport office fill form 2 and deposit Rs. 300/-. You get the PCC from passport office same day only if your passport was issued less than six months from date of application of PCC. In this case they consider the verfication that they did while issuing the passport. If your passport was issued more than six months back from date of PCC application they will conduct the police enquiry again and it takes about 25-30 days. All the while your passport remains with Passport office.

The other way is to apply to SSP office. They will conduct an enquiry at your current address. And depending on your legnth of stay the enquiry may go to your native place (permanent address as well). In my case it went to my current address and permanent address in (different state ) and it took 25 days to get it.

FOr USA and SIngapore do I need to send forms to those coutnries or are there offices in India itself where I can take the PCC. I am getting confused on that only.

How long does it take for US and Singapore to get PCC ?

For US you need FBI clearance and if asked by VISA officer State clearance too. For FBI cleranace the procedure is
You need to send them cover letter and standard fingerprint form (FD-258) and payment of fees

and then send it to
FBI CJIS Division – Record Request

Getting figner printed is also an impotant task, some people suggest JKC for that but I think it is too costly. You can contact property registrar office for getting your finger prints, it may be a cheaper way in India

I have another question now.

My files are sent to NS for screening. Meanwhile can I start getting the PCC from USA and Singapore so that I can save time.

1) How long the PCCs are valid.

2) Can I request for PCC from US and SIngapore myself or I need to wait for CHC to get back.

Yes, I will recommend you apply for PCC from all countries soon after sending your initial application.

The Instruction guide mentions that PCC should not be older than three months from date of initial application. See page 19 of instruction guide

I am sure you can ask for FBI clearance yourself. Not aure about Singapore. For singapore please read instructions at

HI ALL
I have a tricky question,
I was in Qatar in different dates. At the time I am having business visa and every time coming back to India and stayed here one week or two week for renewal the visa and again went to Qatar.

Staying in Qatar below dates:

18 June 2008 to 08 August 2008
16 August 2008 to 27 September 2008
11 October 2008 to 07 November 2008
22 November 2008 to 31 December 2008

Overall I was in Qatar from 18 June to 31 December 2008 its more than 6 months. But in between I have travel back to India 4 times.

Now I am planning for applying the PR visa. Do I require PCC from Qatar?
