I get your frustration and its true that a few rotten eggs have spoilt the whole basket but if they do not take these important steps to process, there can be serious implications to their decision. If the process becomes lenient, sham marriages will become the norm to have a better life in Canada. End of the day, its the citizens that would have to bear the brunt because its their tax paying money that funds lots of free services that would be going to undeserving marriage of convenience applicants. If you know your marriage is genuine, don’t stress and focus on the interview and you’ll cross that hurdle without problems. All the best :)
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to get at here? I am a Canadian citizen, as has my family been for generations. we have no issue with paying taxes, believe me. Immigrants come to this country and work and also pay taxes, so I dont know what "free services" you're referring to either, because we all contribute. I note you said "a few rotten eggs", and it's true, the key here is "FEW" sham marriages would not become the norm and have never been the norm, I've done the research and seen the statistics -- even when the process was more lenient the amount of fake marriages was around 5% of the total applications that were submitted and that number was severely overblown in the media and government to curb and control immigration. I'm not saying I dont understand their process, I do. I'm saying I dont agree with the discriminatory practice of how relationships are analyzed. Period. The belief that everyone from X country behaves like Y is racist stereotyping, and discriminatory. /end rant

The Immigrants you are talking about that come to the country and work and pay taxes include legit migrants who have entered Canada legally and contribute to the economy which is fair. But there are also people who use sham marriages to enter Canada and then split up immediately after landing. More often than not, the sponsor is left devastated both through emotional trauma and the fact that if the new migrant seeks social assistance (money, food, shelter etc) which is what I was talking about, the sponsor has now the added burden of paying back the government the same due to the undertaking they take. Even though you say that the percentage is small, that is more than enough to tighten laws so that thing does not actually blow out of proportion. And its not just present in Immigration but other fields too. (If they detect a loophole that threatens security in the field of aviation, they don’t just let the loophole exist. They tighten rules and security specific to the loophole so that it doesn’t become a regular occurrence). Also I notice that you’re PA is Indian. Do you realise that the most number of applicants since Jan that got their application approved in less than 90 days were Indians? My own application got approved in 3.5 months and PA’s Indian. So contrary to what you believe about them discriminating and stereotyping everyone from a particular country, their processing stats beg to differ. In saying so, at the end you can have an opinion and rant as much as you like and you have the right to. Good Luck.

When we provide additional documents to NDVO is their a time limit for officer to respond to it? Like is there a deadline for getting decision in 2 or 3 weeks after additional documents have been provided?

There is no deadline as such where the officer HAS to make a decision but there’s something called a Bring Forward Date (BFD) which is exactly one month from the date you received your additional documents request which acts as a reminder tool to the officer to open your file and assess your documents and request something again if needed. Then the day they request that, the BFD again switches to 1 month from that date. It does not mean your officer will take a month to check your submitted documents, if they receive it early they’ll process it as it comes, but if someone does not provide it by that date, the officer will open your file at BFD and then will issue you a letter about not receiving your documents yet.

Thank you! Actually, my gckey is showing "we are reviewing your documents...." since 2 weeks now. So, I am little worried as to why is it taking so long because there are only 5 days left to reach 12 months mark. We had provided all additional documents within 1 week of when it was requested although the deadline was end of june. So, should I be expecting a decision soon?

The 12 month mark is not a 100% guarantee they will process it within then. Its for 80% applications. However, that reviewing message is a good sign so if all is clear you can hear something positive from them soon.

Hi everyone! I am March 25 applicant, I am most probably being transferred to NDVO as per CIC agent as he said your file is in transit to NDVO, also he told me that your background and security check hasn’t started yet but you have passed criminality. What is NDVO timeframe these days? How long does it take to process cases direct from Sydney, NS?

I understand what you're saying, I've already conceded your point. But I'm specifically talking about where couples DONT confirm to "cultural norms" and how that plays into the assessment, i.e. If both parties in a relationship are from the same country than ok, but I am not Indian, so that is a "red flag".. explain to me how that isn't discriminatory? Or where couples with an age difference between them get flagged, how is that not ageism (which is another form of discrimination)?
