I believe it is based on the date that your medical will expire. You will have to land in Canada before the expiry date.

its expiring in 2022. and if you dont mind my i know the reason you asked about my passport expiring date?

Hi guys, I am new in this thread
I am sponsoring my wife to Canada. I'm a June 30th, 2017 applicant.
medical and PC was done by October,
her file was forwarded to NDVO April 10th 2018.
she got her pre arrival on may 11th
we received a request on May 16 2018 to submit travel info including citizenship and resident document information. we submitted it by may 21
we are still waiting for NDVO to contact us and to submit our PP
Does anyone have an idea how long it will take?
PLEASE HELP
