Thanks Varadar.

I did send e-medical copy to DELHIIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and infact kept CPCM-EXTCOM@cic.gc.ca,
Client-update-mise-a-jour@cic.gc.ca also in loop.

My questions are:
1. Should I FedEx the hard copy of the same along with cover letter to High Commission of Canada, Visa Section , New Delhi 110021, India as well?
2. Will it make any confusion related to UMI and IME ? Hope upfront re-medical is accepted at this stage and will not create any doubt in their mind?

I am sure that you don't have to FedEx it but if it gives you a piece of mind, go ahead and do it. I would wait for a week to see whether medical status is updated online before i post a letter. I would really appreciate if you could let us know once your medical is updated.

Cheers
Varadar

Photocopy of the original is good. If your send the original you are unlikely to get it back from NDVO.

Hi

I link my application to my cic , and details are below,

Application/profile status Open
Review of eligibility Review in Progress
Review of medical results Not needed at this time
Review of submitted documents
Scheduling an interview Not needed at this time
A background check is needed Not Started
Final decision Not Started

What all these means , NDVO touch my file ? i had submitted my pending documents to NDVO 4 months ago and received acknowledgment. Why submitted documents still blank ? Any idea ?

Thanks

How long is background check in progress supposed to take?

It's been since 11 Nov now with no update. Next week will be a month since my husbands bg went to in progress. Does this mean something is wrong?

as per my understanding it depends on the occupation of the person travel history of that person. If he is based in Kashmir they might think they need more checking as its sensitive area. Its just my understanding based on what i read in this place. i have seen in other Visa office Forums a person with big travel history taking couple of months. and we dont exactly know wat these people so we just have to wait and see

Hi,

my husbands medical expires end of this month, when can we expect a re-medical email from nvdo?
Before the end of month or the first week of January.

Background check has numerous components, most are online database searches. They also send an inquiry through email to the local police station to run a local criminality check. For you guys that would be your local police station in Kashmir. If the local police station has not returned the database search then that can slow down your file. Having said that I don't think that's the case for you guys, I still think that your file is in line for final review and you will hear from them next week.

Funny thing, his brother is high ranking police in Srinagar... had I known maybe we could have had that expedited...

Congratulations! What is your timeline?

They may ask you for a re-medical if your BGC takes longer and they choose not to extend your medicals.... it's a tricky situation! If you ask for an extension, it may delay your process and put you back in line until they decide to re-open your file next.

My suggestion is to wait for the BG process to get done, and then take a call on whether to write back to them asking if medicals can be extended by a month or two -- and if you can submit a new medical as you can't travel in January (lay out your reasons clearly). It is still a risk as they may just delay your whole process if they are not convinced. Are you sure you cannot fly to Canada in January?

Others may have a better suggestion, I honestly wouldn't delay the process at all unless there are very cogent, non negotiable reasons for not landing in Canada before your COPR expires.

Hey congrats. Please let us know your date of application and province of application.

What i suggest is u should not send remedical on your own. Let them send ppr. They wud surely ask for a remedical before ppr as seen in many of the cases.

Background check in progress.. finally

May 17 applicant.
Received GCMS notes. Nothing has started yet. Not even eligibility check started.

But one question, how do we know if it's a straightforward case from GCMS notes.
Anyone has any idea.
