It's annoying now and similar thing happened with me as well. Firstly, I missed the initial tsunami of file clearance for applicants filed between 2 Feb - 14 Mar and secondly as per the trend it looks like NDVO is working in the reverse order started from April >> Jan.

Expecting at least a 'BG check started' this weekend :'(

Just received an email from CIC regarding the same background check update in the application !!
So they do send emails regarding updates but Few hours late !

As promised by MacCullum, NDVO and CIC is doing something at least to make the whole process more efficient... It will only get better from now.
