You should definitely try that. NDVO seems to be giving a lot of tourist visas these days. Touch wood :)

No they both are in process

Most likely if your eligibility hasnt been approved, then your background check hasnt started typically.

It is advisable to approach another MP but give some time in between atleast 1 month or order GCMS notes .
It has happend in the past that two MP's give 2 different statements ,even same happened with me .

Hi db80,

Yes they do have the ability to change the visa office, provided legit reasons are given. And sometimes even going through an MP for such a scenario helps because it takes forever for them to respond to emails that are sent by us. But if you have a mailbox that is locked or like postal box with a key in Canada then I dont think it should be of concern when they mail your passport back to the Canadian address. They have that clause in there just for security purposes to protect your from identity theft (i.e. passport being stolen from your mailbox if its not a locked one).

I emailed the visa office in New York about my situation and they replied saying I shall submit the passport to VAC (the processing center for Canadian embassies in USA) for PR visa stamping along with the passport request letter from New Delhi visa office. But speaking with VAC agents, they do not seem to accept passports for PR visa and only handle TRV cases.

Not sure whether I should take a leap of faith and send passport to VAC New York or wait for a reply from ND VO and/or CPC-Ottawa....
