Yes bro agree with you NDVO is not fair I have my medical to expire on june6
If they would have started with June then I may not have to worry abt medical but because of this unfairness I might have to undergo remedical and most important is it will take more time

I can't even fathom how you guys must be feeling. It is great that other people are getting visas sooner, but it is bull crap that it is coming at the cost of people who applied earlier.

Government is probably doing this to make statistics creative and show that "average processing time" has come down by x%. What they will not show is they ignored a thousand applicants in the process.

I understand the frustration but its not like there are elections ahead or something. There is probably another reason for this than trying to skip thousand applications just to reduce average processing times.

They could have hired new staff and just skipped the files that were already assigned to some officers. I dont know what the reason is but i doubt that government is trying to prove anything when there is no urgent need for them to do that at this point.

I have seen at least 2 MPs asking questions in parliament to Minister of Immigration regarding processing times so I am not surprised that they are taking steps to reduce it. However I don't see how hard would it be to assign June-July files to new staff if they really wanted to do things in order.

here's what I found on CIC website:

In the case of formal requests made pursuant to the Privacy Act, the Department also has 30 days to respond. However, this period may be extended for a maximum of 30 days if:

meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of the government institution, or
consultations are necessary to comply with the request that cannot be completed within the original time limit.
The period may also be extended for a reasonable period of time if:

additional time is necessary for translation purposes, or
for the purposes of converting the personal information into an alternative format.
CIC will tell you about the extension and its length, within 30 days after the request is received. It will also let you know that you have the right to complain to the Privacy Commissioner about the extension.

Note: If you do not receive a response within 30 days, you may obtain the status of your request by contacting the ATIP Division via:
