Update to my file:
We got my wife's passport stamped with the visa on Friday Sept 9. We did our flagpoling on Sat at the border at Coutts. From the time we got to the USA border to the time we started our journey back, it took about half an hour. About 10 mins at the USA side to get the refusal of admission into USA form. Another 20 mins on the Canada side. The officer asked some simple questions:
- What was my wife's status in Canada? A - she is a visitor.
- Do you have a copy of the CoPR? A - yes.
- What is your current address? A - easy answer.
The officer then gave a form explaining things like SIN card number, Alberta healthcare card, when the permanent residence card will arrive, and that the CoPR stapled to the passport is not a valid travel document. The officer handed back the passport and we were out
Now to arrange for a time to go get the SIN card and Alberta Health care card.
Best of Luck everyone. Remember, its not as bad as it seems. Certainly us waiting for the better part of 2 years seems like a long time, but my wife and I will be together forever. All things considered, it was only a small percentage our lives spent separately. Certainly no need to take tension for such a small percentage.
This is the Vizz.
