Can someone answer my confusion ?

If applicant is in canada on TRV. Nd meanwhile if we get PPR of pr application. Can we submit passport at CPC ottawa ? Whats next after submitting it?

In the PPR email that my wife received, NDVO asked to submit passport to either NDVO or CPC-O. My wife will come here on June 21 and will send her passport.

As far as I have understood, you will get back your passport and have to go through landing formalities. There are three options

1. Go out of Canada enter other country and then come back, perform landing.
2. Go to the US border (even if you do not have US visa), US border officer will give you a slip, and show it to Canadian side (this is called flagpolling), then perform landing as in option 1.
3. You can schedule an appointment at some CIC office (it takes a long time to get appointment, normally 2 months, with some exceptions) and do landing.

Hope this works for you.

Travelling to India with Indian Passport showing New Name and PR Card shows Old Name and return to Canada

My wife is a Canadian Permanent Resident and Indian Citizen living in Manitoba Province. She recently changed her LAST NAME to my FIRST NAME in her Indian Passport and obtained a new passport from the Indian Consulate in Canada, while the old Indian Passport was cancelled and returned.

She just applied and waiting for Manitoba Province Legal Name Change Certificate (which will show her both new name and old name).

She plans to apply for Name Change on RR Card too after getting Manitoba Legal Name Change Certificate.

We have few concerns as she wants to travel (before getting new PR Card with New Name) to India and return to Canada:

  • Will there be any difficulty in Canada & Indian immigrations and aircraft boarding as last names on Indian Passport and Canada PR Card are not matching?? (Air ticket Name will be as it appears on her new Indian Passport)
  • If PR Card Name Change is not required for this trip, what else (other than Old and New Indian Passports, PR Card with Old Name, Manitoba Province Legal Name Change Certificate, Marriage Certificate and COPR) documents to be carried??

Please reply....

Thanks.

Hey,

They will check her PR card at departure and arrival and most airlines will also check before she returns. As you know they are very anal about names in any travel documents not matching and I suggest she waits for the Manitoba Legal Name Change Certificate - which could prove she has done the name change and waiting to change the PR card and she might be able to travel without the name on the card
or if she can wait till the entire process is complete - my two cents.

Her travel plans are only after receiving Manitoba Legal Name Change Certificate but may be before the renewal of PR Card with a new name as it takes time even in urgent processing category.

I just found CIC information about Obtaining Travel Document (counterfoil in your passport - can be used in place of PR Card to enter Canada) outside Canada here:http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp

Hi

did your medical expired?
if not then wait till it gets expired.

And don't mention anything to hospital that you want to do remedical
They will know that your old one is expired and you want to do remedical. You don't need any letter from CIC

If they still ask you for then tell them I want to do anyways. please do it and forward it to immigration.

Hey Clueless and Fiza ..no updates for me either !!

my hubby has done mp enquiry finally will let you guys know if i have some answer.

I was under the impression the travel document has to be obtained while you are outside of Canada in case you lost your PR card so I am not sure.
She can call the CIC and ask them directly to be sure

Hi,

PCC has 12 months validity like medical.
If you are having interview then they will ask for new PCC and will send a letter and then whole bunch of pain.

About re-medical- where you from? I don't think hospital has anything to do with CIC letter. its your choice if you want to do in advance
CIC gives letter after interview that has number on it. and if you take that to hospital then it directly gets updated to your file but takes a month.

I did re-medical and even doctor said you are doing right thing to save some time. and lot of our forum members did re-medical with out request.
No one had problem from hospital.

If they still giving you hard time then go do it from different hospital, may be in different city. It worth so much when you already waited 15 months.

Good luck.

I am getting scared as well. I have given up. I feel like I should just pack up and move back to India. The long distance is just so depressing. :'( :'( I am also waiting for this month to get over and order notes again, lets see if any new update. Regarding MP inquiry, my immigration consultant said before 16 months we cant do anything.
