Hi there, I my case i got married in month of October 2014. we both are divorced. I was married in india but divorced in England and my husband got married in india but divorced from Canada court(his ex went to Canada and gave him divorce). I sponsored my husband and also waiting for his arrival. What i have done in my case, I asked my husband to go to registrar's office to get information regarding our case. Our case was very complicated e.g marriage in india but divorce in abroad. So they asked me to bring a letter from ministry of external affairs Canada which is called NOC (no objection Certificate). So, I did some search and came to know about Non impediment certificate which is just a statement that say person is free to wed anywhere abroad. for this i have to get statutory declaration from lawyer and authenticate all the documents e.g divorce certificate, passport copies, landing papers etc. I brought all those papers to india got married according to hindu rites got paper from priest as well. We prepared our file that includes wedding cards, wedding pictures all the ids even i made my adhaar card in india as well, affidavits, two witness his parents their ids everything and submit to registararss office. SDM called us and asked few questions and issued the marriage certificate on same date. we paid 10 thousand fee as well because we applied under emergency service. Thats how we did.....i hope it will help. Do some resarch on google....here is the info

Getting Married Overseas

If you are getting married overseas, most countries will require a statement in-lieu of certification of non-impediment to marriage abroad. You can apply for one by mail to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada Authentication and Service of Documents section before your departure. If you are already abroad, you may obtain a "Statement in lieu of Certificate of Non-impediment" from the nearest Canadian government office abroa

Don't worry....there is a solution for everything...just do some research....all the best!

We got married couple of weeks ago. My husband is a Canadian national divorcee. We got married as per the Muslim rites and law and have only a nikah nama and marriage certificate signed and issued by the priest who conducted and presided over our nikah . We took this to the marriage officer at the local BMC office. They refuse to register the nikah nama stating that they cannot register a marriage with a foreign national divorcee and asked us to go to the family court in Bandra. They are saying that they do not accept the Divorce decree and Divorce Order copies from Canada as these are only one page and are asking us to file for his divorce decree in the Indian court. (Tell me this is a joke). He's never lived here, nor has his ex-wife. He's divorced for a decade. How can they file for a divorce here in India, AGAIN?!?

I'm so totally confused running from one office to another and don't know where to make a start from. It feels like I'm banging my head against a wall.

My questions are
1. how can I get the nikahmana registered? He has left for Canada. I'm here and need to get these documents organised.
2. Can and will the nikah nama and marriage certificate issued by the presiding priest and institution suffice as proofs of marriage? Should I get these notarised or some thing else to make them look as more solid proofs? (so confused and frustrated already!). We have plenty of other evidences, eg wedding card, photos, nikah photos, nikahnama signing photos, all ceremonies photos, bills and invoices of skype calls, hotels, whatsapps texts, phone messages etc.

PLEASE HELP, PLEASE!!!

most of people get it in around 30days. You should also ask your local MP for enquiry. i have read some stories where mp enquires helped in expediting your process.

hi avneet, i dont think that interview recommended means sure interview.MP assistant also told me the same thing.

Do I have to contact any MP or is there any particular one?
