Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum. I am getting married in August in India and will sponsor my husband.
I just want some kind of information about how to sponsor and what kind of documents I need to gather.
I have checked all the documents on CIC website....and also got the certificate of non impediment from ministry of affairs Canada.
I am Canadian permanent resident holding an Indian passport. Do I have to get any other document from here to get married over there.

Thanks,

Very disappointing week. Only a couple of posters on this message board got DM status and their visa.

Lets hope for a better week!

Even I am a PR with Indian passport and got married last year and applied for my spouse sponsorship but I never submitted any 'Certificate of Non Impediment' from Ministry. What is this document and is this really needed? I do not see this as a requirement in the list of supporting documents required by CIC.

As pointed out by a friend in this forum, all the trends that are seen on this forum fail in my case. I am in IP status for almost 5 and half months now. Remedical done 2 months back and still no updates. MP is not of much help because he told me in last week of April that background checks are not yet finished ad he will do an enquiry now when 13 months are over. Feel so helpless sometimes......Don't know when will I be out of this process.. :( :( :( any idea anyone if we can inquire in any way if background checks are done or not??

Just that should be fine. They'll probably ask you for it to get your marriage certificate made. Make sure to keep a copy and send along with your application.

Not needed but helps in getting the marriage certificate made in some parts of India.

the whole process takes about 10 to 12 months and for some people little longer...'in process' does not mean they have finished looking at your application and ready to issue visa..all it means in NDVO dictionary is the they have opened your application. MPs are not much of help since they cannot force NDVO is process it faster but they can be persistent in finding out where things stand. Most MPs are like yours who just accept visa office's statement and vomit back to you...have you done your notes? notes might shed better information as to what is going on with your application. Only thing that is certain with 'in process' is most likely you won't be interviewed. As for remedicals, it is valid for one year so don't worry about remedicals. Your timeline is similar to mine and mine went into process after interview. All the four notes that I had ordered pointed to 'nothing started' until Feb 2014. only in April I found out interview has been scheduled and in May after interview it changed to 'in process'.

Kumar, the last time I got GCMS notes, my eligibility and medical was already passed and interview was waived. I am not worried about medical. I just want to know if background checks are done because that would mean nothing else is pending on my file as per MP. No point of ordering notes now as it would take another one month to arrive.
