Guys.... looking at booking my tickets...need some help...

I'm flying from mangalore -mumbai- heathrow -edmonton through jet airways... and here are my doubts...

1) Airlines told me that i wont be allowed to leave the airport at mumbai if I have an international check in at mangalore...is that true?! :o

2) Travel agent told me i'll need a transit visa for heathrow above 6 hours of layover....I was under the impression that PR visa holders or travellers to canada do not need a transit visa for UK....Anyone...Anything?

Hello DVA,

Wish you a happy and safe journey!

My 2 cents of information...

1) indian citizen not allowed to leave the airport after check in - may be for security reason, but i dont think that is true. at mumbai airport they have a lounge where you will transit from domestic to international. But i dont think there is an exit from there. if you dont want to use the aiport shuttle, you can exit and get back to international terminal by your means. Although please confirm this, i have done this long time ago back in 2001.

2) If you have a Canada or US visa stamped on your Passport, you dont need a transit visa. IF you dont, then you need one. I think, you get your PR card only after landing, until then it is a one entry canada visa.

Hope this helps.
Warm Regards and Best Wishes

But I'm since I'm just getting my PR visa, I dint think i needed a transit visa for UK....and the plot thickens!! :D

Oh and this what what i found on the net now... on the gov.uk website

You won’t need a visa if you:

are travelling to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and have a valid visa for that country

hi everyone,
I have a que....my pcc for india is valid till Aug and I can easily get a new one if it is demanded....but the PCC for US is valid till September 2013...is it possible that NDVO migt ask for US PCC again? It was a long process - getting fingerprints from india, sending it to FBI USA, then getting their PCC almost three months...Any suggestion if I get a PCC done in Advance...Im a Novemeber applicant and there are chances that till Sept, getting a PR seems difficult, acc to current status.... I appreciate your suggestions

Thanks,
Palaki

HI,
NDVO will not ask u for PCC again in case of USA. Because i think u never visited US again after U get Ur PCC. Dnt Worry They will ask if u stayed their for more than 6 month after your PCC Generated by US officials.

I m June applicant n still waiting... No update yet ... Ecase application received. My wife 4 months pregnant so we both feeling frustration bcoz of long visa process.

1. I have two cases to share, few years back my hubby was coming from dubai to amritsar and due to fog his flight was diverted to jaipur and landed, and he wasn't allowed to come out of the plane because his port of landing was to be amritsar.
last year a friend Indian citizen travelling from toronto to amritsar with a night layover at delhi, we went to airport to pick him but he wasn't allowed to come out as his port of landing was amritsar.

2. A pr doesn't need a transit visa and can go out in london for 24 hrs if he/she has got connecting flight within 24 hrs, but the problem is it is not a rule but depends upon discretion of the immigration officer, in march my husband had a layover in london for 15 hrs, when he reached at immigration point in london, the guy clearly denied, he said you are an Indian citizen, you need visa to go out, my husband told him that he is pr and working in Canada and he has no intention to stay in london + wife is waiting for canadian immigration, but he wasn't convinced,
my husband kept arguing that he will not stay at airport for 15 hrs and its clearly given on the british immigration website that canadian pr is an exempt, after some time another officer came into the discussion and he allowed my hubby and told him that its visa officer discretion to give 24hrs transit to somebody or not.

this conditions could be different, i think he is not landing, but leaving for the first part . For the second part, there are many types of transit visa, i think if you dont hold a US or Canadian visa, then you need a transit visa even if you dont leave the airport. As is this case, he will have canadian visa, he wont need a Transit visa. But he has to confirm. Call Airline directly - BA guys are quite professional and tell them the situation and that you are thinking of buying BA tickets(so that they will help you) and ask about transit.

Congrats shona for ur upcoming anniversary!!.. Everyone talking in their perspective is ryt .but neha i support you ..i challenge the Visa process in the country. They want relaibility and security concerns over the people immigrating to their country but on humanity ground they should think is it correct to let partners stay separate. first they make rules that husband wife should stay together and staying alone for 1 year will get their marriage break as per rules ...and there is this rule be away for 13 months before you reunite...

why dont they make all checks once you land their and in case of any doubts ask them to leave the country ...atleast that way people will be near and with their partners ...

coming back to you andrew....when we apply then we think fine it will take 8-9 months and we aity for the time to come ..but seeing these people working on august applicants fo rmore than a month and still nothing concrete coming out raises an eyebrow..

they need to understand we have to plan few things before leaving...jobs .......liabilities ...and what if they suddenly ask you to travel before this and that date ...how organisation in india having notice period of 3 months will be taken care of..

God make these people from NDVo understand our problems ...plzz

Pooja, we must also not get too carried away by the progress (or not) on the forum. We must accept that there are many cases who are not on this forum and who knows perhaps August, Sep and or even couple of october cases would have already gotten their visa but htey are just not on this forum or they are but are nnot broadcasting their timelines/good news. So in all, I feel

June will be mostly Sep and Oct
July will be whatever i left of Oct and November
August will be whatever left of Nov and Dec.

Since Sep, Oct, Nov's number of applicant are much lesser, perhaps the above timeline could be preponed by 15days or so.

So let us hang in there........

Same f***kin old status from last 9 months ..no progress at all ..

It Started killing me now .. How painful and irritating now a days it became yar.....

Sala mazak bna k rakh diya Hai NDVO ne

Jehra lokan ne dimag kharab kita puch-puch k o alag tension , ulte ulte JE point marde ne sare..

Wife meri door bethi a, visa mera ni aa riha, tension mainu hoyi a but ehna ne aiven e kann (ear) chab laye ne mere...

Unbelievable no updates 2 days in a row for anyone here?

After they worked Sunday? So unpredictable.
