If you have bills keep them and you don't need to declare it. They will ask you at your immigration. Just wear them on you don't keep them in bag.

I think when entering on a PR you have the option of getting all your valuables evaluated and then have it written on a paper and then have them stamp it so that you could get in Canada within the next 3 years without any custom.

no get all your jewellry appraised and then have it stamped.....I would suggest putitng the jewellry in india locker itself....you will hardly wear in Canada.....its all artificial jewellry....but you can always get them anytime in 3 years as long as you have that stamped by them about the value....

I am going to travel Alone and if anything unpleasant happens there would be nobody to guide me and i wont be able to contact anyone... So i am a bit worried cz i gotta carry cash too

No i have to carry it because we have many indian family friends and they wear original stuff ...have 2 punjabi wedding in may n june so i will carry all my stuff with me

u need to get it valued here in india before u go there is no duty 1st time for new immigrants .........since u are carrying big sets........frankly I agree with anupam y u carryling so much jewelry its a fact no one wears so much ....its all artificial jewellery .....my mil told me not to get anything except few things here and there....which im gonna wear and go other little bit im gonna keep in my hand bag..........my mil migrated few months back she didn't declare anything and no one even asked her anything ...she was carrying some 4-5 sets bangles earings etc ....

when I was coming at least I was told that you should get all your valuables appraised and then have that stamped by the immigration guys....you can get those in 3 years time without any duty....Dont carry too much cash as if you loose it its gone.....so better get travellers cheque and get it with you.....or if you have an account in Canada transfer it....Also be carefull with your jewellry dont take too much....

Ahhh these punjabis that too dilli wale...im a rajput got married to my punjabi boyfriend now...total show off...right now i am not wearing a single piece of jewelry but once i enter into canada shosha chalu !! Ufff
