Ok guys need some quick help,

My wife leaves tomorrow night from India, I'm helping her fill the B4 form. I have done everything in groups and im good with everything except one thing. I have a group for gold (8 gold bracelets, 6 gold rings, 3 wedding gold sets, 5 necklaces). I have an appraisal for the gold as the whole group of gold, but appraisal says it's worth $749,909 rupees (roughly $13,500cdn).

Now my question is will customs give her a hard time about this because it's worth more than $10,000? The appraisal is for all the gold put together, individually nothing exceeds over $2000cdn.

I was going to put in the B4 form as one group called gold and in brackets write all the individual rings, necklaces, bracelets she is bringing and declare the group as $13500cdn. I was also going to staple a copy of the appraisal to the B4 for them. Good idea or bad idea??

Someone please help, im dazed and confused about this lol

Hi,

As a Permanent Resident you are allowed to bring goods... the regular 10k limit dont apply here. But be mindful you have to declare them properly.

My advice is take a color photos of all the jewellery and keep in hand and appraise the value for each item at back of photo and submit to officer during your landing process. We can even import Car to canada when you land as PR...but you need to produce all documents and appraise the value correctly to them.

good luck...

thanks

Some one who got their passport back from visa office could provide actual experience..from what i learnt from this forum, they don't send any email notification about sending passport back (they want you to wait by the window and spend your whole day waiting for postman..they think you don't have a normal life such as office)

as for your postman, if he knows you well he/she might give your passport to people who are at home otherwise to be on safe side, you may want to give an authorization letter plus money (money works wonders in India..those who are expected to do their normal duty like delivering mails expect money to expedite things)

yes it would be easier if they don't ask for passport early in the process; yes it would be easier if they send passports to foreign offices so that no one has to give up jobs and sit in India for this whole process to get over...but if they make applicant's life easier then NDVO looses its charm of offending applicants

haha....so truee

Well, I am pretty sure they won't be calling you for an interview since you are in process. And canz just got his PP back after getting DM on Dec 6 and being in IP since Oct 26.
You have been in IP since October 25th, so you might be getting DM soon too once they get your passport.

Hoping so.... Already it has been a loooooong wait....

Thnx n gud luck to u :)

Yup that was the thread i read earlier that helped me sort in groups :D

Just got off phone with CBSA, they said as she is moving here the $10,000 limit is exempt. I told them i put in one category and and appraisal will be stapled and the value is the 13K. They said that's perfect. When i asked if i should take pictures they said it is not required. But they do recommend to get appraisal of the jewelery done here in Canada, after she arrives, for our own personal records.

thanks to desi girl..
