I think it's a bit different for every MP and their style.

The response I got from the secretary of my MP was that she spoke on the phone to a CIC officer (locally) and they advised of the file status at NDVO level.
My intuition is that this is "Instant" GCMS access compared to client access that we request for by paying $5.

However, fine details can only be seen with a pdf report of the file via GCMS notes request, as there you can ultimately see Eligibility, Criminality, Security status of the file.

Your MP can only tell you what's happening with a file by giving you a one-line statement. For details, GCMS is the way to go.

I agree, I guess it depends who your dealing with.

It normally takes 10 to 11 months for CIC to issue a visa/PR. Doing such inquiries just results in them pulling your application out of the pile...then they give you a status update and put your file at the bottom of the pile. So why would you do that? Why not just wait it out?

Seems like you live in a stone age world. You think everything is done manually? Dude they have systems in place and that is why you get a file number. It all depends on your visa officer how far he is backed up. If your visa officer is still working on Feb or Jan then you will have to wait for you turn. When you order things like GCMS notes , MP inquiry , etc all they do is enter your file number in the system and it brings up the screen which has all your information. Hope this helps and please come back to 21st centruy

Thank you all for the wishes :) Hopefully, my spouse will get her passport back soon.

Here is the email I got from my MP:

Dear ******

Thank you for contacting our Edmonton-Spruce Grove constituency office regarding the Permanent Residence application of your wife, ******

I contacted Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on your behalf. Immigration officials advised that a permanent resident visa has now been issued. Officials further advised that the applicant's visa, passport, and any original documents which were on file will be sent by registered mail to her Indian mailing address. She should receive this package in the next 7-10 days.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you require any further assistance please let me know.

All the best to all the applicants. :)

Congrats.. Really happy for you !!!!!

Desi-girl, is your status "In Process" now? I have couriered my passport today and was just wondering when the status gets changed to "In Process" :)

Hi Tammineni, nope there has not been any update to my status. It still shows app recd. There's no medicals received either.
We might not get any change in ECAS status and it could go straight to DM. It's just the luck of the draw. I m planning to get any updates through GCSM notes. NDVO seem to be lazy and may not change the status at all. So good luck with your PR processing.

its a disease .

you will get a serious withdrawal symptoms when you get your visa...this is a serious problem since I have heard many people who got their PR in India are running around not bathing, unclean and wearing torn clothes in Indian/Canadian cities muttering 'why my ecas status shows PR issued' .....maybe i should give you my ecas information to keep you going even after you get your visa..i am worried about you
