don't say 'hate', 'kill' anything like that..you will make mixedtapes11 mad and he/she will yell at you...lol...I am just joking mixedtapes11...

but I am just saying 'it is not living in worn torn countries' or being a refugee..yes the process takes time and with the strike on, it makes it more difficult..don't get me wrong I am not minimizing your pain but it would be better if we put things in perspective and not become depressed..by the way, talk to me in a couple of months and if things remain the same, I might have a different point of view..lol

Hi Sania,

What exactly do you mean by "change the TFW status" ?

Do you mean if your cousin can apply for immigration and become a Landed Immigrant after he come to Canada as TFW ?
-Yes, if he comes to Canada as a TFW, he may apply for his immigration under CEC program where he has to work for 2 years and then he/she will be eligible to apply for immigration under this program. There might be some restrictions on the job type but he is eligible to apply under this category after he/she accumulates 2 years of full time Canadian work experience.

If you are asking if he/she can extend his/her stay and continue work in Canada, as per current rules and regulation of CIC he/she can apply for extension but the employer has to obtain LMO (Labor Market Opinion) from HRSDC deptt. in Canada that they need this worker for another (x) years. After this approval reapply for extension and this can be renewed. But there might be some more requirements.

Also keep in mind that these are the current rules. After 4 years there could be different rules.

I hope this helps and answers all of your questions.

Regards,
James

you don't have to wait for 4 yr... you can apply as soon as you become eligible (approx 2 yr or even less). Check the eligibility on CIC website.

All you need 67 points out of 100

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

Once receive he work permit, apply only for positions that qualify for permanent residence status under one of Canada’s NOC codes listed in the website.
