Its not about who created the thread...its about who is consistent and responsible...
We all know the answer :)

PAFSO is basically blackmailing this - get some temp workers to sort this out and let PAFSO strike till their union has no money to pay them

I agree with you either they should hire workers on temporary basis or give it to 3rd party.

Agreed. From what I see..sooner or later..these Selfish Pricks (PAFSO) will have to get back to work!...they cant be on strike forever. They are definitely trying to blackmail the govt here...showing ZERO regards to all the lives affected by this strike.

You bet!
also while on strike these ppl dont get paid...
WOW they must be seriously rich! :D
Looks like its PAFSO's fault they want their demand to be met as it is!
thats not happening...BARGAINING is bound to happen

I work in a union as well, you pay union dues - and you get paid in striks, not much but they have that budget

Yes, this is the possible scenario but not in this case due to the sensitivity of the issue i am sure both parties eager to resolve the strike because they are not just losing the income but also losing the credibility with Schools, tourism and businesses ....i can expect lot if pressure on them to resolve this strike asap...in the history of strikes i cannot recall anything where both parties reached into the agreement with in a one offer... in average it can take upto 2-4 offers before they reach into the agreement...

They are working right now and presenting the offer...which is a very good sign... next offer could anytime even tonight 2AM...

Usually they also work overtime after the strike to reduce the backlogs.

Yes.

Funny, in this world economy, ppl would jump on hoops to get a decent job like that - if these jobs open, people will do double time just to get job stability
Quite contrasting -also, when these folks took these jobs, they knew sacrifice, conditions and pay - suddenly they mentioned how family has to pay the price and spouse adjustment - well you knew this is what it is? either give job to single ppl only
Staying in ND for eg., you get diplomatic status, subsidized rates, Canadian + local holidays, cost of living is cheap + good food - I mean isn't that the reason ppl choose to work abroad for the experience, excitement, adventure

Else, stay here...

Yes they do get paid, they get a strike stipend of maybe $75 a day (almost 4500 rs per day) and (In India many can live very happily on this)! I have been on strike before and I got paid $75/day to strike and show support. My strike only went on a week though!
PASFO has said they are willing to go well into the fall to get their demands met. So if both government and union want to be stubborn it could go on for a lot longer.
I hope not. I hope they present more options for arbitration. But we have to wait for more news.

How do you know they are working on another offer? It doesn't say that.

So basically it's not clear what will happen next with the #dipstrike. Not sure whether arbitration is even on the table

Arbitration process was approved by both parties and in first offer usually they present what is more in their favor by losing less..which they know basically will be rejected....now they have to prepare the second offer... if PAFSO will not accept the next offer or 3rd offer then we should worry....so far everything is normal.

Spot on. I Echo that thought.
PAFSO is being Greedy and trying to exploit this situation as they know people are putting pressure on the govt to resolve this.

Tony Clement sent a letter to PAFSO this morning at 11:30 a.m. Not sure if they're still going back and fourth on conditions. #dipstrike

No, Arbitration was approved based on conditions. PAFSO rejected the conditions. So it could mean arbitration off the table.
