Guys, just a general knowledge question. Is this the address where you are supposed to courier?

Immigration Section
7/8 Shantipath, Chanakyapuri
PO Box 5209
New Delhi
110021
India

I still have no update of my spouse passport that was sent on e-Cas. I know we are all in the same boat, but just want to double check?
Hey you will not get any update on e-cas if they received your passport or not.
The only way you can know if they got ur passport is from the tracking number from the courier company.
And yes the address is correct

Re: NEW DELHI - Medicals Original Receipt or Photocopy ?

@ mum_girl your timeline is almost the same as mine..
Let's see when this waiting journey ends for each of us..

This will probably be a significant event in the history of our lives.. Maybe should put down the story of this period of separation and waiting in a journal and save it for the future..and recall how dreams do come true in shaa Allaah, and that hope should never be lost...

or maybe for all you know, this will seem too trivial a problem when we look back years from now..? What do you think.. :)

I would like to share my experience with you. I am the principal applicant, my husband filed the application at CPC Mississauga and even we had not attached my medicals in it. My husband received a letter dated 29th Jan from CPC Mississauga asking me to get the medicals done asap.

What they had requested was a copy of IMM1017 (copy 2) signed by a Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP) for me, the principal applicant and was required to send it to them by March 25th but we got it done as soon as possible, I made an appointment with a DMP and was called on 4th Feb to get the medicals done. I reached the hospital with the print of the letter which was sent to my husband by CIC. I got my medicals done on 4th Feb, The DMP signed and stamped form IMM 1017 copy 2 and gave that to me. I then couriered the original of copy 2 along with the payment receipt from the hospital to my husband in Canada and he sent it to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga.

They were just looking for proof that I had taken the medical exam which is provided by way of submitting copy 2 of IMM 1017 signed by the DMP. The results of the medical was forwarded directly to the Canadian consulate in New Delhi on the very day ie 4th Feb and it reached NDVO on 7th Feb (I followed it up with the Hospital and they further gave me the number to the courier service they had used along with the tracking numbers. I then got in touch with the courier company and they informed me that the parcel was received at the NDVO on 7th feb.) Post that my husband submitted the IMM1017 (copy 2) signed by a Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP) + payment receipt from the hospital to CPC Mississauga. Once they received it they sent a letter on 13th feb to my husband informing that the file was transferred to NDVO for further processing. Given below is my timeline which might help you.

Hi Steve Jones,

Given below is the information related to Background and Security checks. Hope this helps.

I copied this information from another Fourm .The information was provided by QORAX, one of the VIP members :

Background & Security Checks

Note: Our Background Check comprises of 2 parts:
1. The Standard Documentation Checks,
2. The Security & Criminality Checks.

Standard Documentation Checks:
Our background check is done at the CHC stage. It commences the moment our file gets the 1st BFD by the VO. An indicator of which is the e-CAS that shows "In Progress". All docs been checked & our NOC being tallied against the MI, if the VO finds our case 'eligible' for Canadian PR, the file becomes 'Accepted'; and then it goes for standard background checks, viz. Exp, Quals, Adaptability, Qualitative Considerations etc.

The process involves many things. If our case file is well presented and the enclosures vouch the quality-quantity, adequate POF docs etc., there might not be a requirement of 'actually' calling the employers, references etc. The VOs have a way with that, they are experienced enough to ascertain the logical disposition of our case. But, if there are any concerns of his/her, s/he is likely to ask for additional docs, do further scrutiny vide any means [calling, visiting etc.] & might ask for an Interview.

-Culmination: When 'fully' satisfied, we get the 'Medical Request'.
-Timeframe: Can be anything around 3-8* months, for the 'fast track' system (Avg. 4-5 months).
-eCAS: Continues to Show 'In Process'.
*The older system has a queue, thus can be longer.

Security & Criminality Checks:
A part of the b/ground checks is the 'Security Check'. It commences after our med results are submitted to the CHC. This is a major activity -mainly concerning our 'safe inclusion' into the Canadian Soil; vis-a-vis, Political, Socio-Econmical, Anti-Social disposition, perceived Threat to Canada's integrity etc. This gets us the SDEC, CDEC & SECCRIM.

This is a serious & time-consuming stage, involving many agencies, including CSIS, Interpol, NASC, Database Checking & touch-base with Local Police. Many things are considered here... the No. of countries visited, Applicant coming from 'certain' countries, ex-Servicemen [including Law Enforcement services], Prolonged stay in a country w/out sufficient docs to prove cause, frequent traveling to certain nations, your *Name (?), Inter-Religion/Nationality Marriages etc.

If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the 'final review' stage. If there are any 'red flags', our case goes into a 'spin'. Then our file might go to the local Police/CID agencies; the outcome/timeframe of which is beyond the control of CIC. And thereby the timeframe can be anything [sometimes beyond 1yr]. But, usually this stage should be over by 5 months max. However, a point to be noted is that we can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason.

-Culmination: Only upon security clearance we receive the PPR.
-Timeframe: Around 2-6 months. Avg. 3 months. [With new system, sometimes PPR is clubbed with Meds]
-eCAS: Still 'In Process', but 'Med Results Recd.' inside.

*Yes, that's how a certain Mr. Sharukh Khan was detained for 4.5 hrs in an US port. He was a VIP, thus 4.5 hrs. For u & me -things could be different.
...
The Process in a Nutshell:

Stage-1: [CIO stage] Send Initial Apps+Processing Fees to CIO-NS > Qualitative Check > Issue of AOR+120 days Letter >

Stage-2: [CHC stage onwards] Send Full Docs+RPRF to the Local Visa Office > File on Queue > e-Cas: "Received by Visa Office" > Eligibility Check+PSDEC > Issue of 2nd AOR > Background Check > Issue of Additional docs Request [if any] > 1st BF'D > e-Cas: "In Process" > Send Addnl. Docs > Issue of Med Request > 2nd BF'D >

Stage-3: Meds Sent > e-Cas: "Medical Results Recd." > Issue of PPR* > Send Passport/s > Security Check > Visa/s Stamped > e-Cas: "Decision Made" >
*The Meds & PPR are sometimes 'clubbed' together.

Stage-4: Return of 'Stamped' Passport/s+COPR > Landing at the POE > e-Cas: "Completed".

Maintaining a journal about this waiting journey of ours is a very good idea. We already have it saved in our minds and hearts putting it on paper would be good, only to be looked at as a lesson in a positive way. God forbid in future if one has to be apart from their significant others for a longer period this journal can come handy.

I shall definitely post it here in case there's any progress on my file. Good luck with your application.

Hope all of us who are in this waiting game could get some good news soon. Till then take good care. Stay positive and be patient. Everything happens for a reason and in its own time. May God bless us all.

This is so frustrating indeed I cannot image this was going to happen. I was waiting for my wife to come to Canada within 6 months and everything was going ok until this stupid STRIKE. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

This strike really STRIKE my heart and dreams in pieces. Now I am waiting for my wife and these days it is just soo hard to get by without her. Cannot concentrate on my work, cannot sleep, and now I am fasting as well I cannot eat properly after the fast it is so so hard.

I can imagine for newly weds, 1st year is the intro year where it all begins and here half the conv is abt visa
If I were to plan this, would ask him/her to get canada/us visa from tour perspective and try to do it inland or one of my friends did, she came here ,married in church and then went back to India, they got it within 7 months
