hey friends,
I have an advice for all of us, we are spending most of the time in this forum and desperately waiting for our turn, but truth is nobody gets anything before its destined time...so lets be positive and stay strong, the only best thing we can do is to keep ourselves busy, focus on job search in Canada, immigration is just a milestone, but after that its the next stage of our life, which is tougher believe me it is for doctors, engineers, teachers and infact most of the people.
you know what it is a survey that more than 90% of immigrants change their profession there, because they don't get a job in their relevant field, please understand it is damn tough place for job class people...and we Indians are supposed to be the smartest and most hard working people in the world, so don't waste your time in Canada, infact start working on it right now.
please research your professional jobs at workopolis.com and indeed.com and list down employers requirements and try to figure out if we are competent enough or not. If your spouse is doing good, i would highly recommend you to research for some short courses in your field at Canadian universities, coz resume gets shortlisted with these keywords, i.e. canadian experience, education, licenses etc.
I read a book "rules of life". writer explained this clearly that how human beings behave, we always focus on something in future, like if I loose weight then I will be happy, if i get the visa then I will be happy, if I get a better job only then I will be happy, but the matter of fact is this thing doesn't work...we don't value our desire when it is fulfilled, think about it, when you got what you want, your mind is looking for something else...so guys lets focus on something which is most important..visa to aa hi jayega dosto, aaj nahi to kal...settlement zyada important hai guys
stay positive, be happy, keep smiling and don't stop living your life for the sake of this wait
cheers!!

Very thoughtful of you and definitely agree with your advice . The real struggle starts in canada , the transition phase is very difficult . I would suggest short term courses in your future plans . Any kinda courses in Canadian institution will look good on your resume . Jobs are available , we will have to make our resume look good too . Any don't worry about cost , most of the courses are funded by Canadian government for new immigrants . And can be paid back in seven years after you find a job .

hey pooja,
I am an engineer and working towards project management and P.Engg license bcoz hubby had a very tough time there finding a job, even after getting a job he is still studying for PEng license,
and it is a cruel truth that Canada disappoints new immigrants within a month, bcoz of jobs, weather etc...how long a person can admire a beauty and peace, if he is having a tough time finding a good job, so plz focus on that side, do give attention on our cases here because we get a clear picture what is happening, but don't spend too much time here and do not be sad at all, we cannot loose a year of our life because of NDVO's incompetent staff. They cannot control our life, only God has that right. so smileeeeeee everybody, life is not just about visas.

regarding resignation, we have decided that I will resign after DM only as hubby said its better to pay 1 month salary to company for short notice instead of sitting ideal at home and getting more n more disappointed.
one more thing there is no requirement of any job experience letters, Canadian companies believe in reference check, they don't even look at your docs in interview or joining but they do check reference for sure, they need an official email id and phone no of your ex supervisor/senior etc.

are they saying they need more notice or they won't let you go at all? as an october applicant you may see change in status in aug - sep time frame. If they say they need two months notice then give notice and work for two months..if they say you cannot leave at all then you have to decide how you will be affected (assuming you are in india then work experience certificate; provident fund; company giving you severance pay etc...) and decide if you can get these by legal means or other means...
[/quote
its a government organisation..i have already served my notice period till 30 april..after that i didnt go but i kept following my application..... they cant fill in ppl without following a standard procedure...that can take upto 6 months to one year...as they work reallllllllllllyyyy slow....so working for 1-2 more months wont make any difference...moreover then again ill have to serve one month notice and again theyll reject.....my main problem is that my college wont forward my transcripts withoout permission from the organisation, as my college is linked with the organisation...and earlier they said ill have to resign before they forward any transcript..so they neither want to forward my transcripts nor accept my resignation... :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ .messy..isnt it..??

Neha2515 ,
You are absolutely right, you just picked up my words, we have to start search about our carrier opportunities in canada, evaluation of our degree, and as per present market demand work out new things to learn , be your self ready how to search the job, how to prepare resume, i think your resume, work experience ( canadian), and job posting desperately affect your job search work,
Make your self ready for relocation in respect of job and worst weather of the world and of course English language, leave visa processing work on NDVO, up date your info so every one know latest position, if your standard time limit is over (13 months in spouse visa) then, make inquiry by email or Through MP or any means, remaining leave on God......... Belive in jo hua achha hua, jo ho ga accha hi hoga, ........
Best luck to every one ......

Yes Neha..i completely agree with you. I was working on Project basis with my previous company but now there are no projects with them so sitting idle at home. But now I"ve started with a short term course to add value to my profile. I know its going to be very tough and challenging when we go there and we need to be at least be prepared for that in our minds. Lets all be very optimistic that we all will get visa when the time is right.. also it goes "Faith in God includes faith in His timing". He has a plan for each one of us, so lets not worry about the future and concentrate on the present moment at hand. :)
