There is a two year condition now to the permanent residency, so why are they so difficult?... I hope some of the officers have humanity and will respect the guidelines that are supposed to be followed in interviews... I pray that I will not get an interview... and I give all support for thoses who are in that situation...

Hey guys can someone give me the rundown on the conditional vs. permanent.

Also - what happens at the end of the 2 year, do we have to apply separately or does the status automatically change to Permanent Res...

Also - is there any increased time to become a citizen afterwards...

It is automatic and nothing to apply or anything. for all intentions and purposes, they are the same. Except that if the couple seperates in those 2 years, the sponsored person will loose the residency.
Also - is there any increased time to become a citizen afterwards...
No.

I don't know if it can help for those who will have interviews, but I found theses informations on interview procedures last day on the cic website, in the guides section : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/interview/applicant/conduct.asp


- Remember the principles of procedural fairness
Give the applicant reasonable opportunity to:

respond to the decision
clarify facts
provide new information or
question the officer's interpretation of the facts

I think we should let them enjoy their time together. I am sure she will give this forum her full attention afterwards, hopefully from Canada (praying she gets her DM and PP while her plus and is her so they can go back together)

so I called this morning cic-m and they told me to keep checking your status till jan 26 and if I don't hear anything by that date to call them, they were saying that they are checking my background ect and it takes up to 90 days , should I be worrying that they are taking so long? like I said my application was received nov 4th 2013 at cic-m and my case was last updated nov 7th 2013

This is indeed very odd. It shouldn't take this long to hear anything. Did you give them your email address or just your address? It takes a little longer when they have to mail you the documents rather than emailing you... Not sure why that is though. Hopefully you hear something by next week.
Try calling them on Friday or Monday again. A different person might be more helpful with more information that the one you spoke to.

I live in boston and my siblings live in Hyd AP...

luckily I found a friend who is travelling to India and thinking of sending PP.
My family there will take care of th rest...
Hoping that I am not needed for that stamping thing...

Also I have few questions regarding mailing it to Delhi (from within India)

Can we use any courier service or is it better to send thru Speed Post only?
Should we include the return mail stamped envelope in that package too(my lawyer says so for our own tracking purposes) or will emabssy send it on their own(but I guess we wont have any tracking then)?
For package return should it be addressed on my name ONLY or my family person's name is okay... coz while delivering they might ask for me right?

Well then, seems like you mind is set to send your passport through your friend. So make sure you put your passport in a sealed envelope and get a notarized letter from any lawyer giving your friend permission to carry your passport.
I am not sure why your company can't give you leave of unpaid absence so you can fly to India yourself.
All I can say is good luck and hopefully it's all smooth sailing.

Send your passport through blue dart so you can track it, as mentioned previously by waiting2exhale. And no need to include anything with it except the letter from NDVO requesting your passport. I am not sure about the return delivery because everyone has had different experiences. You have to hope for the best.

use blue dart it is safe and has tracking system
no need for return post, high commission use their own envelope and send it via indian postal service
mail will be addressed to candidate's name and has to sign/show ID proof when accepting it (unless your mailman knows you very well)

So it is clear that consulate won't use the return self addressed envelope even if I include it in the package...
Actually tht wud have helped in tracking its return tooo....

And I am sure they wont notify us about the mail or its tracking# that they send right?

And coming to delivery by postman I assume if my ppl show some photo ID of mine shud suffice right?

It wud have made life easier for people like me if the Indian consulates in foriegn countries are allowed to deal such cross border cases...

Well, I am pretty sure they won't be calling you for an interview since you are in process. And canz just got his PP back after getting DM on Dec 6 and being in IP since Oct 26.
You have been in IP since October 25th, so you might be getting DM soon too once they get your passport.

hey desigirl thanks for the info i called them again later today close to closing and this other person at cic-m is telling me that i should get something today or tomorrow @#$% im confused how can one say 90 days and the other is telling me that today or tomorrow, so i checked again now still the same, maybe tomorrow
