Myrah, Anupam and Youtube....
I am in even bigger soup than I had imagined... Just got off the call from my lawyer and came to know that shipping passports In and OUT of India is illegal (Customs may confiscate it they say even if one tries that)....
I really got pissed off and asked them then why the hell was I never told about this...
Their solution is to send it through friend (or) travel by myself (or) get the case transfered to Ottawa(complicated and casuses delays as per them)
Totally clueless.....
Friends if anyone has any suggestions lemme know.....
Hello,
My husband had a possibility to work outside India (in a country where the delay was longer than India) just before we submit our application. I called Cic to know from where we have to apply, they told me he can apply from India but he has to be ready anytime to fly back to India for an interview or for his passport submission. If he's not ready to fly back than he should apply from the country he's residing.
So what I see in your case as you choose to apply from India instead of applying from USA is to fly back to India with your passport. Unfortunately this will have consequences on your job in US. It is unfortunate but anyway sooner or later you will have to leave that job to land in Canada. Once they give you the entry visa to Canada you have only a limited amount of time to land and if I'm not mistaken you then have to wait for your PR card before being able to travel again.
Sending your passport with a friend is an option but extremely risky! One applicant in 2012 forum couldn't attend their interview due to the fact that his passport was in Delhi and they were in Vancouver, NDVO never reply to them when they request to have the passport back to attend the interview. Who knows what will happen with their application now! It is very sad! If I was you I wouldn't compromise my chance to get my Canadian PR and be with my wife just to keep a job in a different country. I know sometimes it is difficult to make such important decision mainly if this can affect our career, but this is a gambling game and you have to decide what you're ready to gamble with.
Best of luck in your decision and for the rest of the process!
Take care!
