There is no change of terminal as all BA flights depart n arrive from same terminal.

My personal experience is that if you fly via London Heathrow airport, make sure you have enough transit time for the connecting flight (at least two half to three hours) as the Heathrow airport is one of the worst and biggest airport and depending on the airways, the terminal may or may not be the same. If the terminal is different (which they change until the last minute:-(, better have layover period of atleast 3 hrs. Especially, if you choose different airways from transit points and during christmas/ holiday season.
According to me, Emirates is a good option with Dubai being the transit point (most of the time), which is hassle free. But they might be a few dollars towards higher side. If the person is travelling for the first time to international waters and if you can afford, paying that extra might be worth it. This is just my experience and suggestions.
