Nobody really knows, not even the minister himself, surely not before april....dandash said:When do u think this will be affective ?
I can't wait to become a citizen and to fight these crazy neo-cons with my vote and my will to live in a 21st century country !!! I won't let them hijack my dream of becoming a Canadian, not after all these promises, not after all these efforts!!us2yow said:Our very own "Bush era" up North dude ! ....I am still shocked at what Canada has become in the last few years..sad. I still have faith that the NDP and Liberals will do the right thing and engage in debate.
And this is bound to go through a lot of angry and vociferous debate !
File lawsuits? Really? What, is the Canadian government not allowed to change its own laws anymore? Are you going to sue the lawmakers for doing their "jobs they are paid to do"? Just because you don't like them, that doesn't many any of their actions the least bit discriminatory.ramsfe said:Well, there is a lot we can do : Like file lawsuits and sue them if they take any discriminatory measures .... we can also write letters to our deputies to tell them how much we hate this law so that they the jobs they are paid to do

You are welcome to write all the letters you want...that is your right. However, in my view, citizenship reform is both extremely popular and long overdue and I am delighted to finally see a government step up to try and fix some of the many problems with the system.
And you seem to be lost in your sense of entitlement to the point where you are unaware of the laws of the civilized country you live in. The only conflict you refer to seems to be in your own head, as the government has every right to change its laws whenever they feel such a change would benefit the country and its citizens. And yes, even the "CHARTER" can be amended.ramsfe said:and yes, every one with a straight mind will sue CIC for all the offences they are doing..... you seem to be totally unaware that we live in a civilized country where people resolve conflicts in courts. Yes, it is everyone's right to sue the government... the CHARTER that is way above you and above your conservative friends gives us this constitutional right.
Hey people! That's funny! Torontosm wants to modify the canadian charter of rights!!torontosm said:And you seem to be lost in your sense of entitlement to the point where you are unaware of the laws of the civilized country you live in. Go ahead and sue the CIC if you think it will help your case. But, my advice would be to stop complaining about the fact that you "have" to live in Canada for an extra year or two to get your citizenship, and actually start appreciating life in this wonderful country.
