I am wondering why CEC is getting to slow to process, i applied under PNP and based from recent trends, applications are moving on a faster and steady pace. I can see november2012 applications being issued pr visas last july. The same pace is also happening for aplications submitted after november2012.

It seems PAFSO strike has bo effect on the PNP programs. I don't know if this accurate but it has been told several times in news reports that PAFSO strike is only affecting TFW and visitor visas, no mention whatsoever on how it is affecting PR applications.

I am qualified to apply in both immigration programs and luckily I chose to apply under PNP. I just hope this trend for PNP do not change.

Good luck to all CEC applicants, do not be disappointed and discouraged....

Aww that's so nice! Good for you!
I'm not 100% certain but I have a feeling it is being delayed for us.
It could still be a coincidence however since the strike happened, everything has stopped on my file.
and I read somewhere that a number of officers were sent to help out visa processes.
It is unfortunate but we seem to be affected by the strike one way or another.

Guys actually the PAFSO strike is about they want the same salary as CIC people who work here in Canada.
The difference is PAFSO people who does the same job as who work here in inside Canada offices ie CPP-OTTAWA , V- ALBERTA etco they demanding the same salary!!. PAFSO does exactly same jobs but out side Canada they work in world wide Canadian consulates.
if CEC application need any direct involve of of a consulate outside Canada may be get effected But now GCMS is available so i do not think this strike effect any CEC application.
PAFSO strike is more crucial for TRV .for students and visitors from out side Canada application.
May be this summer school vacation effect our processing time as many of them may be on vacation with their kids. :)

Make comments!!!

Its not as simple as saying that PAFSO members abroad are not making the same....you have to look at their benefits as well. They get housing and many other allowances that officers who are in Canada do not. Its about balancing the system and making it fair for everyone. I speak from experience in the public sector....actually quite recently we were dealing with one of our unions demanding benefits that were substantially more generous than those of other unions and employees in general. Its not an easy topic to deliberate.

Lets just hope they go into arbitration and solve this soon, so even if there are no current effects on CEC, there wont be any later ones from prolonged negotiations and resource re-allocations.

Just wondering if anyone has ordered GCMS notes recently and what your progress is
Thanks!

CEC 2013

Pl do note there isn't any arbitration anymore.. case is being dealt on "Union Bad Faith Complaint"

issue is in front of PSLRB - Board need to decide on date to hear out arguments on both sides and decide in one's favour - strike then culminates.. if an argument is not agreed to - both the parties then have to wait for legislative meet on Sep 6th -

pl follow my thread on other blogs if need be

hope this helps

I'm well aware of the progress. "It's the third move made by the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers this week in its attempt to pressure the government to enter arbitration and settle a contract dispute." Just because they are going before the labour board doesnt mean there still wont be arbitration. In order for them to legislate back to work, Parliament needs to be sitting. And this is a last measure - one used when no other option is available.

Point being - right now, its a guessing game as to where this lands. I hope the mounting pressure will lead the Treasury to settle the dispute through arbitration. On the other hand, this is merely a glimpse of what is to come next year when the rest of the 240 thousand unionized contracts come up for negotiation.

Lets hope for resolution soon! 8)

Indeed. Just keep that in mind:

... are based on how long it took to process 80 percent of all cases between July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Processing times are subject to change.
