Sending your application to Sydney-Nova Scotia through DHL was the biggest mistake I made in the entire application process. I handed over the package to them on 19 September 2014. Today is 24 September and the package is still in transit and the online tracking updates have also stopped updating since 8 am on 22 September 2014. I decided to call up DHL customer service and this is what I had to listen to:

"You booked the courier through a franchisee and not DHL so we are not liable for your courier. You should have booked directly through DHL, but people like you book through franchisee to save money. :o >:( Your package will only be delivered on 25 September and there will be no more updates before that. You can file a legal complaint if you want to, we will handle it."

I wish I had never made the mistake of using DHL. :( I advise others not to do so.

Your package will be probably deliver by 25th Sept....don't worry.....I have used some domestic courier company to send my package on 17th and DHL delivered on 21st Aug (they picked on 17th Aug from Delhi).....Actually DHL is not having their our network in Nova Scotia. Therefore, they rely on some other local company which sometimes results in delay.....Just wait for the good news....!!!!

DHL has a very sad tracking system, that's all.

Here is what I did; call DHL local office (i.e. the origin country) first give them a bit of a piece of your mind. Then push them to give you the latest info. They will share with you a alpha-numeric code which would start with NET.. (e.g. NET123456). Follow up this number on website of Loomis Express; you will have some comfort. DHL will take its own good nice time before they update their system.

The staff at DHL call center are not uniform with their answers; so if one person say that you used a local guy to send your courier. Call again the next guy will help you without even mentioning that. I have experienced this. Relax, your courier will definitely reach.

Next time either use UPS or FedEx; they are expensive but better.

5 working days is the said time for delivery of courier, if shipment made on 19th sep then
25th sep would be the delivery date. skip 2 weekends - sat/sun
.
For shipment delivery , always consider provision of 1 or 2 days on the said delivery date.

I've had a similar experience but with Fedex. I've submitted my application to them on June 30th and it was delivered on July 8th. They were mailing that package aacross Canada for days and it took them 2-3 just to leave my country! As a matter of fact, they did give me the estimated date of delivery (it was day before final delivery) but I didn't look because I used this courier for WES and it took only 3 days which made me very pleased.
Delivery time, probably, depends on their plane timetable and your luck in connection with that. It would be best to first ask about delivery date for a certain location and then choose a company.

Relax

you know there is no DHL or any other famous courier office in Sydney, they again hand it over to third party... i had sent through TNT and they gave it to some other courier, few days back there was some weather issue.. it will reach soon... dont worry.
Cheerz

Thanks everyone for chipping in with your experiences.
+1 to you frasiercrane for the info.

This is really a stupid and irresponsible reply from DHL.

But to be fair, selecting a courier depends completely on the origin and destination. It was proven that DHL is the worst when you send documents from Asia/Middle East to Canada. On the other hand, DHL is the best when you send documents to UK or Germany. I have sent documents from Saudi Arabia to London and it was delivered in less than 15hrs. No other courier could give the same transit time for this route.

For CIC, it seems UPS is the fastest, 2nd is FedEx.

I advice that you check the transit time on their website (DHL/FedEx/UPS/TNT). Once you insert origin and destination, it shows you the transit time which is 90% accurate.

Now I have the tracking number of Loomis Express and I know the location of courier. Does anyone know if I would get an electronic proof of delivery in this case?

Got 2 versions from DHL India. One said that the status on DHL will be updated other said it wont. Anyways as i see on Loomis 8-9 packets out for delivery. Spoke to DHL in Canada where the person said it has been delivered and picked up by some lady...i missed her name. So hopefully it has reached. Relax guys.

Same here, the more you speak to these guys at DHL, the more confused you get. I am also tracking on Loomis website now. It's out for delivery. Don't know if we will get the electronic proof of delivery or not.

I guess they will. Otherwise people who had sent their applications earlier would have complained about the same. DHL Canada guy said they will, maybe with a delay. According to him the packets have been delivered. So lets wait for an update on Loomis and later on DHL.

Delivered. Received by MIKE.

mine was received by DONNIE

please confirm did anyone have their package recieved by DONNIE .. just need to be sure !!!
