Hi,

I am in need of help and confused.

My job roles and duties match to both Noc as mentioned below I am working as Network Engineer.

2147 Computer engineers (except software engineers and designers) and
2281 Computer network technicians

I hold electronics and communication Engg Degree. Under 2147 its mentioned as below under employment requirements section:

Employment requirements

  • Computer engineers require a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical or electronics engineering, engineering physics or computer science.
  • A master's or doctoral degree in a related engineering discipline may be required.
  • Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practise as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Engineers are eligible for registration following graduation from an accredited educational program, three or four years of supervised work experience in engineering and passing a professional practice examination.
Do I need license is it mandatory for P.Eng, Do I need to submit engg drawings and reports? Also what about I need to register for Engineers and do I need to write professional practice exam ?

I am a CCNP certified networking professional and went for 2281 as it matched my job description better. I think it boils down to your role at your company.
