hi,
I have a question, my spouse just received a letter asking for an interview at the embassy of colombia, does this means that he could still get it approved or not? we are really nervous because all of this process has taken so long, what kind of papers do they ask for in the interview does any one know?

Asking for an interview is a positive thing as it means the application hasn't been refused at that point and clarification needs to be done from their part regarding something. The papers to bring to the interview should be specified in the letter your spouse received with the interview appointment. I suppose it's a good idea to take with him additional proof of the genuine marriage like photos, emails, phone bills. Doesn't hurt to be prepared for that.
Best of luck in his interview!.

i do agree with robrod , and you should arrange those documents but also i would recomand you to take all the original documents ( of which you have submitted notorized copy earlier) and a recent POF (Bank Statment) + your passports though passport are not needed at this stange but you never know if they intend to look at your passport only to make sure your identity

wish you good luck for your interview :)

It is not bad to get called for an interview - it means you get another chance to prove your relationship is real, if that is what the interview is about. You can order your CAIPS notes to see why they called for an interview, which will help you prepare for it.
Take the originals of any documents that you sent a copy of with the application. Take further proof of the genuineness of your relationship - i.e., proof of contact since the application was sent in. Take your passport - they may request it anyway, but you will most likely need it to get into the embassy.
Make sure you know everything that was on the application - usually the visa officer just goes through the application and asks you about what is written there, so know the details well.

Actually living together is very good evidence that your relationship is genuine, so include evidence of your cohabitation. But, if the sponsor is living outside Canada, they have to prove they will return to Canada, so it is best if you are just visiting in Colombia.

Try doing a search for 'CAIPS'. There is a lot of information about it on the forum.

It costs $5. They won't send CAIPS outside of Canada. You could have them sent to a family member in Canada and they could send them to you. You can get them on CD in a PDF document that could be emailed to you.

And here is the link to the document you need for your CAIPS notes. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563B.pdf
On this form, leave "Requesters reference no." and "ATIP File No." blank. The reference no. is for agencies that request a large volume of information and you would not have an ATIP File No. yet because you've never requested anything before. Fill in your husband's name and birthdate and then in the box that indicates the $5 fee, check off "receive copies of the records" or "cd". Go down to the "Request for" section and check off CAIPS, NOT the VISA file as this will take much longer to receive. Write the city and country where the application is being processed in the Embassy name section and then your husband's file number which starts with a B. Fill in your Canadian address information at the bottom of the form.

You must also get your husband to sign and return the "Authority to Release Personal Information" http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5475E.pdf form to you and include it with the "Access to Information Request" form.

Send both of these forms and a cheque for $5 payable to the Receiver General of Canada to:

Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator
Narono Building
360 Laurier Avenue West, 10th Floor
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1

You should receive your CAIPS notes 30 days after they receive the request.
