Hello people,

I am a newbie here and I have a situation that I wanted to seek your opinion about.
I decided to try immigrating to Canada a couple of months back, so i started reading up from the CIC and Canada Visa websites.
It soon became apparent that I needed to go via the Federal program as my occupation was listed on the NOC (2283 Information systems testing technicians), but to my utter disappointment I just got the news that Canada has put the federal program on hold :( .

Now the only option available was PNP or a Temp work permit, for which I first needed a valid and credible Job offer.
And so I started my job search a few weeks back, but even after having applied to more than 200 employer's I could not manage a single response :(
even though I have a degree in Bachelor's of Engineering - Electronics & telecom and I have been working with big brand MNC's in India for the past 6 years as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer.

So apparently frustrated, I decided to get in tough with a local consultant in Pune who claimed that they would help me with my job search and visa processing (PNP).

Though money is not an object as far as paying the consultant is concerned (I already think its a dead investment and that i made a blunder ny investing), I just wanted to know if any one of you may have had a similar experience.

Also, another question that has been bothering me is that a PNP visa takes time (4 to 6 months), so knowing that would an employer be willing to wait that period ?

Best Regards

Dear,

The job offers which consultants arrange are usually fake like only on the papers to cover the immigration process.

Hi biddukhan,

And thanks for your reply.
Well what the consultants said was that they would provide a "dedicated researcher" who will market my resume.
If my profile is shortlisted I will taken take an interview with the interested employer (clearing the interview is obviously my responsibility).
If i get the offer along with the HRSDC & LMO sanction and I accept it, the consultant would then process my visa application.

So thats that ...I am prepared for the worst and yet hoping for the best :)

Why not apply for a 8-month post graduate course or masters? If you get that, you can get a work permit after, get a job, then apply for PNP. I think it's very difficult to get a job from outside Canada, even with your qualifications. There are lots of qualified people in Canada.

Hello dee001 and thank you for your reply.

I don't think I want to stop working and start looking at PG offers from Canada.
I know exactly what you mean and I cannot state how disappointed I am in my attempt to get a prospective employer to respond.

I am going to give the consultant I hired his shot and If that doesn't work then maybe I will apply for FSW program when it opens again next year...
I took the online assessment and am scoring around 70 points...so unless my luck is really screwed up, I should be able to get to Canada.

But I do not intend to give up...I will keep looking for an employer who is willing to sponsor me legally.

And thanks again for the input.

FYI - your NOC (2283 Information systems testing technicians) was not on the desired occupation list before the FSW program stopped accepting applications. In fact, there were no IT occupations on this list at all. This means that even before the FSW program was stopped, you still would have needed a job offer in Canada to apply.

When FSW reopens next year, I think there's unfortunately an extremely good chance that your NOC will still not be on the list.

I agree :(
I read on the forum here on one of the threads that 3 years back my profession didn't even need an LMO.
Unfortunately now the same profession fails to make it to the list

well, I guess its a little to late for me as i cannot and will not change my profession...
I am gonna keep trying though, law of averages does state that if i keep trying sooner or later I will end up with a job...
I guess the key is patience and effort !!

thank you for your response...really appreciated !!

regards

Hi Gaurav,

Which consultant u have registered urself with?

Ours is exactly d same case. We were trying fr FSW but it got closed. Our consultant told us to take quebec rout as HR is listed profession but the challenge ws to learn french.
I am a Human Resources professional (managerial level) with over 6 yrs relevant industry experience. I am working with a IT Company and have done full time MBA – HR. My husband is a Marketing (Marcom, Branding, Advertising) professional at Managerial level with a leading telecom company. He has got more than 6 yrs industry experience and has done MBA-Marketing. We have a 3 yr old kid.

I belong to India. Me, my husband along with our 3 yrs kid are trying for PR.

Our consultant has told us that she will help my husband secure the job first and then process our PR. Though we have paid them but not very sure if this is the right route as I have read at lot of places that it is difficult to get a job if ur placed out of Canada. Bt we thought it ws d risk worth taking.

Are you also told to select any 2 provinces?? If yes which one have u selected and the reasons why??

Gaurav, you may keep trying but trust me the probability is less than any odds you would have attempted. LMO for Quality assurance is quite close to impossible, there are thousands here looking out for such jobs with legal credentials. I do not want to discourage you but just trying to help you with the real picture. Education here is the best way out to succeed in fulfilling your immigration dream..Who knows how long they will keep this category open. Canada is sitting on 35 M people now.
Another option would be to look out for Indian employers who have clients here in Canada and are looking for posting their employees, that will open up CEC and PNP category ( in some province) for you.. Good luk

An honest suggestion: One of you should apply for a university course and the other (spouse) would get OPEN work permit based on that. No restriction, work with any employer, most would support a PR for you. As a student you can work full time on campus & 20 hours after first year outside. Back up plan: most provinces have an International student category - the person who was studying can apply for PR after getting employed in case the former does not get sponsored. (If one studies for 2 years -> 3 years open work permit post graduation is approved which gives you 5 years in Canada.)

I am not sure what and how consultants make promises but the market here is really competitive. I cannot imagine an employer filling LMO to get a resource with these skill sets unless you are a hard core unique programmer. Canadian experience is highly pivotal for employers here!
