need help what forms to fill up for my neice application

Hi everyone, I need your help what forms should I fill up and also for my neice since she's under 18. i'm confused cause I tried to fill up the forms that I got from family sponsorship but then some of them requires information since the age of 18. If somebody has the same situation before? i would really appreciate your help.

yea and I need some help with the forms..I'm not sure what forms i will fill up for her since she's under 18...do you have the same situation before?

I have the list of forms form the cic site but im not sure how to fill it up...I know her mother will be the one to sign as her legal guardian...but some of the information is needed from the age of 18...

hi scylla, my husband is with me..no kids yet..my neice grew up with me and her mother couldnt afford to raise her since she has new family..she has no father.. and she was affected by typhoon haiyan last year..and I know there's a program who could fast track her application if affected by typhoon but I dont know where to start with her forms since she's under 18.. if you could help me i would really appreciate thank you

Unfortunately you can't sponsor your niece.

It would only be possible if she was under 16, an orphan, and you had adopted her.

Since her mother is alive - you can't sponsor her. There is a program to fast-track applications for individuals affected by the typhoon - but this is only available to those who are eligible to apply. And your niece unfortunately isn't eligible to be sponsored by you.

I'm not sure you can make this work even if the child has lived with you for her entire life.

If I'm not mistaken, you yourself were sponsored through family class by your husband. Is that correct?

If you had legally adopted your niece before you were sponsored by your husband and had included her in your application - then I think this might have worked. (Note that you would have had to have legally adopted her - legal guardianship isn't enough and is not recognized for immigration purposes.)

However since you immigrated without adopting your niece and including her in your application, I think adopting her now will probably be seen by CIC as an adoption of convenience done solely for the purpose of allowing the niece to immigrate to Canada.

Has the child lived with you for much or all of her life while her mother has lived elsewhere? If the answer to this question is no - then you have no chance of sponsoring her now since you won't be able to demonstrate that the adoption is bonafide. If the child has lived with you for much of her life - then I suppose you can try adopting her and submitting a sponsorship application once the adoption has been completed. I still think it's a long shot - but you can certainly try. The first step is the adoption which would have to be processed in the Philippines. You can't submit the sponsorship application until the adoption has been finalized.

thank you scylla...i think it's impossible to get my neice now since before i left philippines i had the chance to inquire about adoption and they required me things which I cant afford yet so I decided not to pursue the adoption..I feel so bad cause I did promise my neice that we'll be together here in canada... ...

If you can't adopt her - then unfortunately it's impossible for you to sponsor her.

You could try to bring her to Canada temporarily on a study permit. However this is an expensive option and you should expect to pay around $14K per year in tuition just to have her attend public school (private school will cost even more).

We can't afford yet if I'm going to let her come here by student visa..tuition fee is so expensive...If im going to wait for her to become skilled worker it will take time...she's 14 yrs old right now...I feel so bad also for her cause she wanted to be with me and I cant visit her yearly cause of the travel costs thats why I decide to sponsor her..but there'sno chance now...
