We'll be moving to Canada next month, what do I need to do so that my mother can soon be with us in Canada. If she applied as tourist first, do I need to have a stable job first in Canada so her application will be approved fast? If I sponsor her, how soon will her application be approved, and what is the income requirement for us? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

2, It will not be a quick process, once you submit the application to Mississauga the wait is 26 months for approval/rejection. Then it will be an additional 5 to 48+ months for the overseas processing see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/08-fc-parents.html
3. It is very unlikely that you mother could remain in Canada as a visitor for the total processing time.

Parents and grandparents are not considered to be a priority when it comes to sponsorship. It is considered more of a priority that somebody is separated from their spouse than for an adult to be separated from his mother and the processing times reflect that.
now it's 33 months!!! what is going on? I started the process in 2007 since then it went up from 26 month to 33. I'm sponsoring my mama and brother, and according to immigration rules he supposed to be a full time student, not working and living with parents. How can he remain a full time student for so many years i don't get.

33 months is only for the first part of the application - sponsorship...
after that it could take up to 2 or 3 more years for their PR application to be finalized.
I applied in July 2007 for parent sponsorship and until today, still nothing at all other than the letter of receipt.

What if one wants to invite parents for temporary visit.

your parent could get a visa for maybe 6 months or more...
but from what I know, if immigration suspect your parents or your wife wanting to stay here permanently,
They will not issue a visa....
with your wife, she can continue to stay in Canada while you finish her application even though her visa expires....
it's always best to extend...
but with your parents, i think they would have to return home if visa extension is not approved and wait from back home
