I am a Canadian citizen, and my girlfriend lives in Romania. I just got back from a visit and there's a very high probability that she is pregnant. Were waiting one more week to be sure. But in the meantime I need to find out the quickest way to get her into Canada. She intends to move here but this may force our hand a little quicker than expected. I very much want to be with her durring the pregnancy and for the birth of our child. She was already planning to attend university when she gets here. And we definately plan on getting married as soon as possible. Is there any way to get her here within 9 months? Or preferably right away. I'm completely lost as to how to begin the process and which visa would be the best to apply for in our situation. Any help would really be appreciated!!

Romania is visa exempt, right?
If so she can come here as a tourist, then you can get married, and apply for sponsorship. outland - Romania has currently 17 months, but in most cases it's faster.

Are you married (assume you're not) or common law (common law means that you have lived together for at least one full year and can prove it)?

As of now, the only way she can come immediately is through applying for a visitor visa (with no guarantee of approval). Whether you can sponsor her for permanent residency will depend on whether you are common law yet or not.

Which province do you live in? Hopefully you realize there's a good possibility you may have to pay for all of her hospial visit, test and the actual birth out of your own pocket.

Studying in Canada before she has permanent residency requires a study permit. It's too late for her to obtain a study permit for the January semester -the earliest she could apply to attend school is May or September (depending on the program she wishes to take).

No - it's not. She needs a TRV to come to Canada.

Here's what I would do.

Start by applying for the TRV (visitor visa). If it's approved, she can come here, you can get married and you can sponsor her for PR while she is in Canada. To increase her chances of approval, she should provide as much evidence as possible that demonstrates she has strong ties to her home country (job, assets, property) and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. You should not place emphasis on her ties to you - otherwise CIC will suspect she has plans to remain in Canada long term and refuse her. Again, no guarantee the TRV will be approved.

If the TRV is refused, fly to visit her and get married. Then sponsor her for PR using the outland (outside of Canada process). If the TRV is refused, you should assume she most likely won't have PR in time to come to Canada and give birth here - and will have to give birth in Romania.

Hi, the only problem is if she is pregnant she cant have a doctor in Canada. No private insurance will cover cost. You must pay all.

Good luck

Depending on where they are moving to, they can get a midwife for free, depending on availability and how soon they reserved a midwife.
