Hi,
Apologies as it's a bit of a lengthy read. My timelines for quick reference as below
Landing Date: 4th October 2016
PR card expiry date: 21st November 2021
Residency obligation of 730 days fulfilled: 1st May 2021 ( excluding 2 weeks on Business travel)
Given that the current PR processing time is approximately 70 days, I would like to get started with PR card renewal as soon as possible to keep a buffer of at least a couple of months before PR card expiry in the event of emergency travel out of Canada.
Also, I am moving to a new place between 15th July to 15th August.
I am concerned about the PR card would be delivered to the address where I would not be staying. I can't put the new address right at the beginning as I don't know the exact date of my move yet.
1. Can I opt for PR card pick up from any office here in BC instead of having it sent to my home address? Can it pose any unnecessary complications?
2. If no for Q1, can I update my address as soon as I move to a new place in case I hadn't received any communication about the PR card until the end of June? and have it delivered to a new address?
3. If in case the card gets delivered to the old address after I move to a new place and I am unable to access the mailbox of the old place, what would be my recourse to get the PR card?
3. Does address forwarding through Canada Post works for PR card delivery? Will it be delivered to a new address if I had moved by the time card is issued and unable to update the address in time?
Also, excluding these 730 days of residency, I had travelled for short durations on business travel ( 2 weeks). I was working on a payroll of a staffing firm for the client. I have visa sponsorship letters issued by the client as well to demonstrate it was travel for a Canadian subsidiary of a global company. Since I am able to show 730 days residency without these 2 weeks of business travel, I was thinking about not claiming them now. To keep things simple, can I not claim these 2 weeks during application and if there are any concerns raised by CIC for my residency obligations, only then claim these 2 weeks later on?
