I need someone to help me...I process my visa here in Hongkong. I just got it. But I would like to go for a vacation to Philppines for a week before going to Canada. I need to go back in Hongkong, because my employer prefer to buy the ticket from hongkong-canada. Would there be any probem in the immigration if they saw my visa stamped on my pasport? My agency said that I can go back here in Hongkong for as long as I still have an existing contract with my Hongkong employer. Is this true? if that so, my employer here in hongkong is willing not to cut my contract until I come back. please advise.

hi jozzy,
i think there is no reason for your worries. as long as you still hold a valid work permit in hongkong when you return then there will be no problem.
On your return, the immigration officers will only ask you the reason for your travel to hongkong and you can show them your work permit. they will not scan thru your passport for any other things.
so be cool. ;D

check your visa for canada if it does not expire pretty soon and if you still have a work contract in HK w/c does not expire soon.i took my chances in 2010 and was successful.I just renewed my HK contract and my Canadian visa has 9 months bedore it expires so they did not really question me thoroughly. goodluck to you.

Thanks for all your reply, I just have one question though. How about in the Philippines, there are rumors that some had problems in the immigration in the phil. if they saw my canadian visa. Would they hold me and let me pay for anyhting..like POEA and PDOS fee?

Just apply for Balik-Manggagawa in POEA for your OEC, if they ask you about your canadian visa tell them that you need to finish your contract to HK before going to Canada (don't tell them your canadian visa unless they ask). But don't tell them na tapos na ang contract mo dun, mahirap talaga umexit sa pinas going to Canada kaya I suggest if your HK visa & contract is still valid magbalik-manggagawa ka nalang to avoid hassle for applying OEC. Grabe sa Pinas pinahihirapan nila masyado ang mga pinoy na mangibang bansa wala namang well paying job sa atin. Good Luck :)

Thanks, yes my hk contract and hk visa is still valid till dec.13 2012, and im planning to go on vacation by aug 13. So If Im going to get an OEC in the phil consulate plus a letter from my hk employer that my trip is just for a vacation then, would that make the trip smooth then?

I believe so. Is this your first time to take your vacation going back home?

hi. Does anyone know how the process works or requirements required when i go back to Philippines for 1 month vacation leave?

I have only been here in Canada for 6 months as a live-in caregiver and is planning to go to Philippines March 2013 until April 2013. I have a 2 year contract and has a multiple entry visa (W1) but my work permit that was attached to my passport when I entered Vancouver Immigration states "NO RE-ENTRY".

Do i need to go to the Canadian Embassy in Manila to re-apply for the work permit or just wait til i go through vancouver immigration when i get back?

Do i still need to provide the POLO verification to POEA when applying for the renewal of my OEC?

Thanks guys.. I am really worried.

Having gone on vacation also here is what I experienced.
Your W1 visa (multiple entry) allows you entry into Canada. Your work permit allows you legally to work in Canada. Your work permit cannot be used to enter Canada - the visa is used for travelling into Canada, not the WP. This is why it is noted 'NO RE-ENTRY'.

Check the validity dates and date of expiry of your work permit - i would assume this is the same date as the end of your 2-year contract. If is is not expired, you do not have to re-apply for a WP. Make sure you have a valid and non-expired - WP, Multiple-entry visa, and contract with you - when you travel.

Now for the OEC, you can renew that (as noted by Buleg and as I did) - go to the POEA using Balik Manggagawa process. In my opinion you do not need POLO verification as you did not change employers and still with the same one as in your contract. Bring proofs of the previous POLO verification done. Check online with Pilipinas Teleserve if their online process is up - this saves the time of going to POEA. Last time, this was not available as POEA was 'upgrading' this system.

Note - to be able to renew your OEC, you will also need a letter from your employer stating you are on-leave and vacationing, and will be back after your vacation on the dates you mentioned. This is sort of an 'employment certificate' attesting that you are still employed with the same employer and you are serving the terms of your employment contract.

Bring with you your old OEC copy, proofs of previous POLO verification, and make copies of your WP, Valid entry Visa, contract, and the letter. Often times, copies of these are requested. Also, bring your Canada-issued IDs proof of residence in Canada. Who knows - it may be asked to be presented.

/i hope this helps...

It's from live in caregiver program. As LIC we have privileged to apply for PR after working 24 months. then issue owp while waiting for PR.

Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the process if you are on LIC issued OWP. I can only offer you my opinion based on what I infer and experienced specific to my case. Still I will sort this with you and exchange ideas. i do have some questions:

You are still employed albeit part-time. I assume you do have employment agreements with these employers, and have official employee-employer relationship proofs (i.e. payslips, can get certificates of employment(?) etc.)?

You have an OWP, do you have re-entry visa or do you need to apply for it?

Sure I could get letter from my present employer it's just that I went directly to Canada from Taiwan so I didnt pass all the requirements from the Philippines. They might ask me to do all of them again when I go home.
