hi. Does anyone know how the process works or requirements required when i go back to Philippines for 1 month vacation leave?
I have only been here in Canada for 6 months as a live-in caregiver and is planning to go to Philippines March 2013 until April 2013. I have a 2 year contract and has a multiple entry visa (W1) but my work permit that was attached to my passport when I entered Vancouver Immigration states "NO RE-ENTRY".
Do i need to go to the Canadian Embassy in Manila to re-apply for the work permit or just wait til i go through vancouver immigration when i get back?
Do i still need to provide the POLO verification to POEA when applying for the renewal of my OEC?
Thanks guys.. I am really worried.
Having gone on vacation also here is what I experienced.
Your W1 visa (multiple entry) allows you entry into Canada. Your work permit allows you legally to work in Canada. Your work permit cannot be used to enter Canada - the visa is used for travelling into Canada, not the WP. This is why it is noted 'NO RE-ENTRY'.
Check the validity dates and date of expiry of your work permit - i would assume this is the same date as the end of your 2-year contract. If is is not expired, you do not have to re-apply for a WP. Make sure you have a valid and non-expired - WP, Multiple-entry visa, and contract with you - when you travel.
Now for the OEC, you can renew that (as noted by Buleg and as I did) - go to the POEA using Balik Manggagawa process. In my opinion you do not need POLO verification as you did not change employers and still with the same one as in your contract. Bring proofs of the previous POLO verification done. Check online with Pilipinas Teleserve if their online process is up - this saves the time of going to POEA. Last time, this was not available as POEA was 'upgrading' this system.
Note - to be able to renew your OEC, you will also need a letter from your employer stating you are on-leave and vacationing, and will be back after your vacation on the dates you mentioned. This is sort of an 'employment certificate' attesting that you are still employed with the same employer and you are serving the terms of your employment contract.
Bring with you your old OEC copy, proofs of previous POLO verification, and make copies of your WP, Valid entry Visa, contract, and the letter. Often times, copies of these are requested. Also, bring your Canada-issued IDs proof of residence in Canada. Who knows - it may be asked to be presented.
/i hope this helps...
