I am a Filipina and recently got married to a wonderful Canadian man. We are so clueless as to how start our spousal visa application - Does my passport, NBI & Police clearance need to be in my married name?

I have renewed my passport and got my NBI & Plocie clearance however they are all in my maiden name. I couldn't use my married name or change my status yet because our NSO authenticated marriage certificate isn't available yet (and I was told it wont be available until after 6 months!) ~ the long wait is pure torture -- I and my husband would really like to be together soonest time possible.

So here are my questions (sorryy, I am really very confused)

1. Can I just use the Advisory of Marriage so I can change my status to Married?

2. Where do I get the Advisory of Marriage? Do I get that at NSO? Do they have a form for that? Because when I went to NSO they only had forms for requests made for Cenomar, Marriage certificate, birth and death certificate. Is there a different form for requesting Advisory of Marriage?

3. Do I need to have my passport, NBI and police clearance in my married name?

Also... it would really be helpful if yu can share some tips and advise -- really so confused...

Thank you so much! :)

God bless :)

Hey,

I don't know where to get the advisory of marriage, as I'm not from the Philippines, but you don't need to change your name on any of your official documents to apply. You can apply with your maiden name, and explain that you will change your name once you get to Canada with your husband.
Your marriage certificate will have your maiden name so it's all good! they'll see you're the same person...
Good luck,

My wife has always kept using her maiden name for all immigration purposes. She came to the UK to be with me eight years ago. Now we are doing the same in reverse so that I am trying to go to Canada with her. This is all being done without using her married name as it makes linking all the documents easier.

In fact, only our family use her married name for "social" purposes.

For spousal sponsorship there is no minimum. You must not be on welfare or bankrupt.

thank you for the tips and feedback ^_^ greatly appreciated... hmm so just so I understand --- my passport and documents are good even if they are in my maiden name. Then for the forms that I filled out (sponsored wife), it should say married, right? Even if my Passport, Police, and NBI clearance say I'm single?... did I understand this right?...

Hello!

I am a Filipina
Married to a Canadian too but havent started processing.
You can get Advisory of Marriage using the CENOMAR form. Since you are married it will generate AOM instead of CENOMAR. But since its not yet 6months after your marriage,it might still say in NSO that you are still single.
