Im sorry to be a pain, I am trying to read as much as I can manage on the processes but my mind is spinning.
My Wife and I both come from NZ and then to Brisbane Australia. We both really want to make the leap to Canada now our Son has grown and is moving on. I work as a Security Officer at a Major Casino here and my wife as a night filler at a major supermarket chain.

I understand there will be a lot of cost involved in the move, but our biggest problem is knowing where a good place in Canada is to move too, If we can pick a good place then we can make a start.
I would like to keep working in my field as a Casino Guard if possible. we would like somewhere safe and beautiful with great people. we love the countryside and to visit the city. we love the idea of snow in the winter and sunny days at the beaches or lakes in the summer.
We need to be able to afford to live on modest wages and make ends meats without too much struggle.

Look I know I probably sound pretty stupid, but I would love some advice by anyone in the know.
Can you please help.

Mike :-X

Have you determined if you qualify to immigrate? To qualify to immigrate, you will need to be able to apply under one of the categories below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp

I would stay your biggest problem right now is determining if you qualify to immigrate and then applying if you find a category you qualify under.

Basically, a security guard and night filler will definately not meet the requirements as a skilled worker in order to gain PR. I don't mean to be blunt but that is just the reality.

Best option would be to apply for an open work permit (if you are under a certain age - i think it's 31/2) - there are a variety of jobs you could do with this but you must be within their age requirements. Or see what is on offer study-wise and apply at a university (provided you have have the right pre-requisites for the course). From there you could secure a job placement and apply for PR. I will have to say that if you just start applying for jobs as a foreigner (i.e. with no PR) you will find it almost impossible to get a job - you really need PR status. However, an open work-permit could help you initially.
